Answer:
We appreciate your interest in this television. The LG53 is not a valid model number, and as such, we cannot determine if that is a Smart TV. However, if the selected 39LN5300 is the intended model, then No; it is not a Smart TV. This model does not have a Network LAN port, nor any other means to connect to the Smart TV content. . In order to obtain Smart TV capabilities, along with Netflix, without having to obtain an entirely new TV or player, it is recommended to obtain the Smart TV Upgrader, model SP520 which will allow the Smart TV features which are available through the LG Apps Store. Information about this device can be viewed on our website at http://www.lg.com/us/blu-ray-player....

Answer:
This question is difficult to answer because it seems that this model uses both VA and IPS screens. I tracked down using a panel make site that in the 39 inch section this TV might be using a MVA Panel that has a contrast ratio of up to 3000:1. The IPS of course would be about half that. You can tell which screen panel you have by looking at the shape of the pixel dots. Arrow shaped for IPS and rectangular for VA panels.

Hi -- can you please tell me the type of panel this TV is? Is it TN, IPS, PVA or S-PVA or VA? Thank you.

Answer:
LG doesn't specify in anything I've seen. On one popular TV Web forum, the consensus is that it is a VA panel, at least at the 39" size. Other LM5300 screen sizes may be different; there also is some discussion about a panel lottery between IPS and VA screens, but most people seem to think it's VA.

Answer:
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this television. The best connections would depend upon what connections are available on the different devices. The BluRay player will typically also play DVD discs, so the addition of the DVD player may not be necessary, which would reduce you to two devices. From that point, you might check to see if the Cable Box and BluRay player can both, or either, connect using one of the HDMI ports. If you have additional questions, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.
