What People Are Saying

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lot's of features. After a couple of months using and getting past the learning curve, it works pretty well but it does vibrate a lot and yes it is on a pedestal but if it shouldn't be then why sell one for it. The machine is what's vibrating not the pedestal or floor for there is none in either. I found that loading longer items across the circumference of the drum and shorter front to back helps a lot. Generally the lint feature could use an upgrade. The stay fresh or tumble press feature doesn't work on ours. It is supposed to tumble the clothes at the end in case you can't get to it right away and all it does is sit there and hum. It does produce a fair amount of heat when drying but considering how it works that is to be expected and that'll be great this winter. It's nice putting a load in and not having to return until it's dry and it does seem to save quite a bit on water and electricity. Haven't figured out yet the best way to get wrinkle free clothes. What seems to work the best is damp dry. Overall I like.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magic I don’t know exactly how long I have had the combo I bought the extended warranty ,but have not needed to use it . There is a learning curve on how to maximize the results of a great load of clean clothes . About an hour before drying cycle is finished ,for example if I am doing bath sheets. Which are basically large towels.I pause the machine momentarily and throw in one totally dry one . That trick seems to act as a wick to absorb any extra moisture that may be left in the machine .

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Drying Time - Once happy now not so much! We have had this for about 2 years now and knew the drying time was going to be longer when compared to traditional washer / dryer. It was working just fine and then about 6 months ago the drying time has been horrible. I mean after 5 hours clothes are still damp. We have added "more" dry time, reduced the load size (which by the way was fine when we first purchased machine), and have cleaned the trap. Today I sent support an email and am hoping they have a resolution. We have it on a pedestal as well. On the upside, this machine does wash and spin clothes dry. I wished the warranty was longer than 1 year. One other thing is that the spin cycle is so high that jeans come out with semi-permanent wrinkles - so, I spend more time ironing - I have taken them out before drying to shake them out and they are still really wrinkled. Those I definitely take out after first drying cycle, while they are damp, so I can flatten them out as they dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This machine is basically perfect. Got this washer back in November 2016. Solid, sturdy construction were a good indication of it's continued performance. The cycles are abundant and washing and drying is premium as well as its economy of power, water, and space. I hooked the drain up low to the ground on a plugged drain pad over a carpet and connected the drain and water connections under an apartment bathroom sink. In my case I had to add a separate drain trap and autovent to get as close to code as possible. This might be considered advanced for some but it was fun for me and made this the ideal project for an apartment renter with no laundry inside. Luckily I also have a cool resident manager. The one slight gripe I have is that there is no way to turn off the chime alert music at the end of the cycle. I can sleep right through the gentle drying cycle but the chime wakes me up for a minute. I heard you can cover the audio holes or something but lately I've been washing while away from home so it's no big dealzies.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Machine but some quirks It's a good washer dryer for compact spaces and needs no venting. Three things I wish I knew before I had bought this machine: 1- Significantly long drying times, 2:30-4:00 hours, depending on the type of clothes 2- Dryer capacity is less than Washing capacity, which means that if you do a full wash load you have to remove about a third of it to dry it 3- There is no easy to access lint filter and the manual instructs you to clear up the lint on the rubber grommet around the door, you have to do this every time you dry clothes, else the lint will be in your next wash. There is a lint filter that can get clogged if you don't do the afrorementioned, when it gets clogged the machine detects this and will tell you to remove it and clean it out with a toothbrush. The machine takes some getting used to, the long times. You want to set it at night or during the day with a delay so clothes are done when you get up or get home from work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Convenience is key The biggest and best thing about this machine is the fact that it rolls right into the drying mode if you want it to. AND it's perfect for linen closet space. We are still trying to learn it and all of the features it has! There are a lot!! The only downside we've experienced is that it does emit a good amount of heat. If you're looking to put it in an area that is high traffic, just know it will be a little warmer than usual.

Is this big enough to wash and thoroughly dry a king size comforter?

Asked by: THErtb
A capacity of 3.8 cubic feet has long been considered as being large enough to accommodate a king size comforter so with an Ultra Large 4.3 cu.ft. Capacity, the LG Front Load Washer / Dryer Combo, Model # WM3997HWA will accommodate a king size washer. The tricky part will be the drying part. Typically, the washing capacity of stand-alone washing machines is twice that of a matching dryer which is why a matching dryer's capacity is usually almost twice that of the washing machine. For example, if this washer was just a stand-alone washer, a matching dryer will have a capacity of 7.3 cubic feet. Since drying is done in the same tub as washing is in this machine, if you wash a full load in it, you would need to take out half the load for an effective drying performance. You will be able to dry the comforter in this machine, but it will take much longer to dry it...^IFV

how do I get this machine ready to be moved.

Asked by: Jwill22
It would be best to reinstall the shipping bolts in the unit to hold the tub in place to prevent damage to the drum when moving it.

How much water does it use for a large load? We have to install a water heater for it and are wondering what minimum size to buy.

Asked by: SierraKristina
The LG Front Load Washer / Dryer Combo, Model # WM3997HWA weighs the size of the load and chosen cycle and options to determine how much water to use. It rotates the laundry in such a way that allows it to use less water while still fully saturating your clothing. It is normal to not be able to see water during the wash cycle...^IFV

Lint is building up in the door ring and I find lint on my clothes. What can I do to prevent this?   I clean the door and rubber ring after every load. I absolutely love the washer/dryer all in one unit.

Asked by: Terimlg
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. If the lint on the door is already being cleaned off, and the lint still appears, then it is likely getting stuck in the outer tub, and is likely stuck to some manner of buildup in the drum. With that being the case, it may be possible to resolve this matter by running the TUB CLEAN cycle with about a cup of vinegar.
