Can I use homemade laundry soap in my machine?

I'd like to make a powdered laundry soap at home consisting of Borax, washing soda and finely grated bar soap. Is this safe?

Answer:
This washing machine was developed for HE products only. It is not recommended to use any product in this washing machine unless it is specified for use with HE laundry devices. If it gives instructions on HE product usage, then follow those directions. If it does not, then we do not recommend using the product. Standard bar soap is designed to produce soap suds, which can be harmful to a front load washing machine, and is almost polar opposite of the low-sudsing HE detergent.

Answer:
I don't know about weight, but we have put 6 pool towels and added some hand towels and wash clothes and the machine handled it with no problem. We were concerned about how clean. But each piece was washed well.

Answer:
The door on the washer is hinged on the left. Our matching dryer is hinged on the right. When both are opened, it is easy to transfer clothes from washer to dryer.

Answer:
I apologize, but no; the door on our front-load washing machines cannot be reversed. The hinges are located on the left hand side of the door.

Answer:
Not specifically a button like I have seen on another manufacturer, but once a wash cycle has already started, push the start button again and that pauses the cycle. The door unlocks after about 5 seconds and you can open the door. These machines do not fill up with water, so water will not pour out.

Is a soak cycle available on this model? Also, is there a tone or signal that chimes to indicate the end of the cycle? If so, can that be turned on and off?

Answer:
I have not found a soak cycle yet. As for the chime, you can turn that off. Under the timer, the 2nd button from the right, push and hold for 3 seconds and the chime will be silent.
