Answer:
The Steam Function is automatic on only the Allergiene and the Steam Fresh cycles. The Sanitary, Bulky/Large, Cotton/Normal and Perm Press have to be set manually to turn on. Hope this helps

Answer:
The steam feature on the WM3001HWA works on all the cycles but Delicates, Hand Wash/ Wool and Speed Wash. If you do not want the steam option, do not press the steam button on a cycle that uses steam. If you have any other questions, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 1-800-243-0000.

How many gallons of water does this machine use per cycle?

Answer:
Generally speaking, the typical front-loader washer uses 1/3 less water than a traditional washer to wash the same load (approx. 25 gallons vs approx. 40 gallons). The water level varies depending on the weight of the clothes placed in the unit. This feature is automatic for LG’s high efficiency washers.

Answer:
I apologize, but no; our NSF-certified Sanitary Cycle heats water up to 158 degrees to remove the toughest stains and bacteria. Unfortunately, temperatures must reach 160 degrees in order to kill viruses.

I have the WM3001HWA but don't know the best settings to use for my daughter, who is chronically sick with respiratory illnesses. I do know that the 'Allergiene' setting will help get rid of allergens and pet dander, but I have no idea if the 'Sanitary' setting would be better for killing bacteria and viruses (or if it even does that), to help keep her healthy.

What are the differences between these two settings?

Answer:
We appreciate your interest in this washing machine and its features. The Allergiene cycle is designed to use the power of steam to reduce common allergens by 95%, and penetrate fabrics for enhanced cleaning performances. The Sanitary wash cycle is different in that it allows the use of the EXTRA HOT water temperature for cleaning purposes. Some stains are so nasty, its hard to imagine how they’ll ever come out. Our NSF-certified Sanitary Cycle heats water up to 158 degrees to remove the toughest stains and bacteria.
