Transitioned from an old school top loader to this model. This model came highly regarded in some consumer magazine reviews. Looks very nice and appears well built. Used it to wash darks, lights, whites, and delicates and the results are very solid. Would not hesitate to recommend this to others

Technology makes a difference
This machine uses much less water and spins water from clothes much better than our old 80s era top loader ever did. This means the dryer runs also runs less.
The water inlet valves open and close very fast a dozen or more times per cycle. This caused a problem with water hammer in our plumbing, as others have reported. Fortunately suppressors are available for not much money at hardware stores. We installed these at the washer inlet which greatly reduced the problem, but I may add two more at the hose inlets to make sure any pipe movement is minimized. I think LG should add this function internally to the washer for next generation models.

I have been using the Tide pods and there is always leftover detergent and residue in the compartment. If I use the powdered pods, they are almost completely intact after running a cycle. My clothes do not come out smelling as fresh as with my old washer. I do not know how clean my clothes are really getting and do not understand why the detergent is not dissolving.

Huge number of cycle choices
Have been using the washer for a month so far. Love the ease of use, the number of cycle choices, and the pleasant sound of the alarms. Amount of water left in clothes varies by cycle, for the permanent press setting, more moisture than expected. Also, a few cycles make DREADFUL noises when starting up and beginning and ending spin cycles. The noise is so bad that I actually had a repair person come in; he said that this was 'LG normal'. Not a great feature, but other cycles aren't as bad.
