Clothes come out very fresh smelling. Can do king size comforters that I use to have to take to the laundry mat. Lots of cycles for all kinds of laundry.

This is a great wash machine. The steam for added cleaning is really nice. We use a lot less liquid soap than our other HE front loader. We are saving money in soap water and electricity with shorter drying times. I highly recommend this wash machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Niky16 Awesome Washer!
I'm in love with my new LG washer! I especially love all the different options it has (i.e. the hand wash/wool). My clothes come out cleaner than they did when I had an old washer. The Sanitize option is my favorite!
Before purchasing this machine, I did extensive research on washing machines, and I did not find any other company out there whose machines offer so many useful options. I actually enjoy doing my laundry now.
The first time I started using my new LG washer I noticed that after having washed about 4 loads (on the same day), it began leaking water. The next time I did my laundry (about a week later and again, after about the third or fourth load) the machine leaked. We called customer service and the technician showed up at my house. I think it's worth mentioning that I noticed the leaks occurred when I used powder detergent on both the "Main" wash and the "Pre-wash bins simultaneously. When the technician came, he recommended not to use too much detergent because, he said, too much detergent produces excess suds and that is what causes the machine to leak. Since I followed the tech's recommendations, I have had no more problems--no more leaks.
I highly recommend this machine. I am extremely happy with its performance, efficiency and the looks too!

This is our first front loading washer and we are very pleased with it. The clothes seem to come out cleaner than with my old agitator washer and are almost dry due to the great spinning final action.
It has only been 1 month but our electirc bill was lower due to less dryer action and the water bill is also less.

Ever since we got this washer our clothes smell cleaner and look cleaner. We had a number of washers in our life but never one this good. If I ever need another I will not think twice about buying another one like I have. This machine has more features then we will ever need. All you do is put your detergent and push the buttons. We have the matching dryer and they look good together.

Made the switch to a front load washer and choose the LG WM4070HWA with a pedestal. First wash was a cinch and a joy to complete. Do I need to mention that it washed a full load of clothes in less that 30-minutes?
With the steam cycles your clothes come out cleaner than clean! A deep and thorough clean that cannot be beat.
We choose this model for its 4.3-cubic foot size, and price when purchased (free second pedestal).

Rated 1 out of 5 by Brent Leaks badly when washing towels
We have had our WM4070HVA washer for about 6 months. Within the first week, our washer started leaking sudsy water when processing towels (i.e., during the rinse cycle). The leak would occur from an overflow port in the rear. The overflow port is under the hot and cold water connections.
An LG service technician reviewed our unit. He replaced a check-valve behind the overflow port. Odd, given that this unit was brand new. But he was trying to cover all possible root causes. He also told us to reduce the amount of detergent we use.
In response, we reduced the amount of detergent we use. The problem still persisted. Then, we changed detergent brands but maintained the reduced amount of detergent. The problem still persisted.
We called LG Service which sent a second LG technician. The LG technician said we needed to reduce the amount of detergent we use. In light of our efforts, his recommendation was ridiculous.
Above the detergent tray, LG has placed a sticker that reads, "Designed specifically for HE detergent". We use HE liquid detergent. The detergent tray is marked with graduated lines that correspond to "Normal" and "Maximum" size loads. We never exceed the lowest graduation mark for "Normal", and often use detergent levels below this mark. Note that the lowest graduation mark for "Normal" is the lowest mark on the tray scale.
My wife and I have tried manually to determine the proper amount of detergent for towels. But because the WM4070HVA changes the water amount based on the weight of the towels, any "experiments" we run are hit-or-miss. Of course, if we use too little detergent, the towels are not properly cleaned.
WM4070HVA is, unfortunately, poorly designed. First, the graduated lines should be useful for all load cycles. That includes the "Towel" cycle. Second, the overflow system and its associated components should be more robust to various detergent concentrations. If LG specifies a "Normal" graduation in the detergent tray, then the overflow system should be able to handle that when towels are washed. Period.
The design problem with the WM4070HVA is simple: It weighs loads to determine the proper amount of water, but then does nothing to determine the matching amount of detergent. The user is left to figure it out. Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to know the amount of water added into the drum - especially since the water is added after the cycle starts and the door locks!
WM4070HVA is an expensive washer. At this price level, LG should have incorporated an automatic dispensing system. The system would work as follows:
The unit weighs the load to determine the proper amount of water,
The dispensing system determines the proper amount of detergent, based on the cycle selected and the amount of water,
The water is dispensed into the drum and the drum starts agitating the load,
The dispensing system removes the appropriate amount of detergent from a detergent reservoir,
The dispensing system dilutes the detergent with a predetermined amount of water. The predetermined amount of water takes into account the water already in the drum.
The dispensing system adds the diluted detergent into the drum while the load is being agitated.
In this design, the user only needs to check the reservoir to make sure it is full of detergent.

We've had this product for approximately 2 months and we have been very happy with it. The water and detergent usage has been extremely reduced from our previous machine. Plus the cleanliness of our washables have improved.
