Laundry At the Speed of Life

Soccer practice. Groceries. Dinner. Dishes. Shouldn't your laundry move as fast as you? Now it can, with LG's enhanced TurboWash® technology. Powerful high-pressure nozzles save 30 minutes per load, cutting wash time by half—without shortcutting cleaning performance, even on larger loads. Innovation that keeps up with your family calendar? That's not just laundry done fast—it's laundry at the speed of life.

*Compared to an LG top load washer without TurboWash. Based on AHAM-HLW-1-2010 test protocol. Cotton / Normal or comparable cycle at default settings, 8 lb. loads. Excludes quick wash or comparable cycles intended for small, lightly soiled loads only.

More room to clean

When it comes to laundry capacity big is good, but bigger is better. Now you can wash a king size comforter and full set of bedding in a single load! At 5.2 cu ft of mega capacity, you'll definitely have more room to clean.

Experience Steam Cleaning

There's no clean like a steam clean. Our Steam™ technology gently but powerfully penetrates fabrics to virtually eliminate dirt, odors and wrinkles.

Count on it

When you buy a washer, you want something reliable that you can count on. Because the Direct Drive Motor uses fewer moving parts and operates more efficiently, LG confidently backs the motor with a 10-year warranty.

The hottest thing in cold clean

Using the cold cycle on your washer doesn’t have to mean compromising. ColdWash™ technology uses cold water and enhanced washing motions to penetrate deep into fabrics, giving you cold water savings with warm water performance.

Measure First

What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grate futures I have bought this for in June 1015. I am very happy with product very quite .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Using it for over 2 years! Purchased it over two years ago and it has been great! Only thing is that it is possible to put too much in it. I stuffed it with towels and it could not spin well. That was my fault. Had to divide the load and rewash because they dryer would not dry the soaking wet towels. It washes my king size comforter fine. I do the wash about every other week and that's enough for two people who change clothes often. If I wash weekly it seems like a waste because it's half full. The front inside the rubber part does need to get wiped down occasionally and if you don't leave the door open to air out the inside, it does start to smell gross.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handles clothes for a family of seven. Takes about three loads of the clothes I put in my old washer in one load.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent machine Great results. One improvement would be to light the menu customization titles. Hard to see in my laundry room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So fast and quiet My new washer and dryer are wonderful. They are easy to use, faster than my old machines, very quiet, and I can wash a king size comforter. I am glad I decided on this pair. No regrets!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best washing machine ever! So far everything fits without overfilling. My big quilt looked very small in the machine. I was concerned that the wash time was to short and items would not get clean. Not so, depends on the cycle you choose. I used to let old machine go through wash cycle and stop it and reset to get dirty work clothes clean. Everything comes out great now. The best I have ever had. Love the lighted drum, I can see if I have left something behind. 5 Stars!

What are the differences other than price between the white and graphite steel versions?

Asked by: BigBobS
There aren't any other differences between the white and graphite steel versions of the ENERGY STAR® Most Efficient 2015 LG 5.2 cu. ft. Mega Capacity TurboWash™ Washer with Steam™ Technology, Model # WM8000HVA. Units that have the same model number will all have the same features and functions. Once any feature differs, the model number changes to reflect that it is not the same model...^IFV

Boosters (Oxyclean)

Just got my LG8000HWA. I am used to using detergent boosters like oxyclean with my laundry. I can't figure a way to add it to my cycles. Suggestions?
Asked by: ehobeho
I contacted LG with the same question (Oxyclean powder booster), and they said to put it in the drum, but not too much, because this model doesn't use a lot of water.

I am moving and will put my washer in storage for at least 6 months.  I know about reinstalling the shipping bolts and draining the water from the drain pump filter.  What can I do to prevent the washer from developing stagnant and musty odors?

Asked by: Big Daddy Lynn
We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. It is recommended to leave the door slightly ajar to allow for air circulation inside the cabinet. This should help to prevent the development of musty odors. If there are additional questions, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

What does the message on the washing machine LE mean?

Asked by: qwer
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. The LE Error Code, for a washing machine, indicates that the Wash Tub is not rotating properly. This could potentially be caused by the machine being overloaded. Troubleshooting steps can be located in the owner’s manual on page 35.

Using a washer overflow pan and space needed.

I need to place a new washer pan before delivery of this washer. I'm looking to determine the correct distance to place this 29x33 ID washer pan from my back wall. Anyone have any experience with this? When measuring off the back of the unit for 5" of space needed is it off the back of the cabinet or off the widest part of the back of the washer?
Asked by: Rj111
The use of drip pans can potentially result in increased vibration and noise during operation. However, if a drip pan must be used, take extra care to follow the instructions provided with the drip pan and be certain the leveling feet are adjusted for firm and even contact with the pan. We do not have a particular accessory to recommend in this regard. Wherever the pan is located, the back of the washer should be positioned about 5” from the back wall, according to the installation instructions on page 12 of your owner’s manual.

supplied hoses

In the manual it states that the water supply hoses are supplied and to only use the supplied hoses. Anyone know the length of these hoses and why must you only use the ones supplied? I believe the ones supplied are also a rubber hose and not the stainless braided hose sold in store. Also when purchasing the machine you're told that you must buy hoses from them or the machine will not be connected by installers. Thoughts on this subject please.
Asked by: RJ11
The length of the supplied inlet hoses for the LG 5.2 cu. ft. Mega Capacity TurboWash™ Washer with Steam™ Technology, Model # WM8000HVA is about 5 1/2 feet long. The manual recommends using the supplied hoses over existing hoses for 2 reasons, the first being to ensure that if the pressure coming from the taps is correct, it is maintained so you do not get burst hoses and secondly, it is a warranty issue. It is also recommended that you replace rubber hoses every 5 years because rubber loses its flexibility...^IFV

What is the minimum time to run a load?

I saw that you have a speed cycle. How fast is it?
Asked by: Lannand
The least time I have seen is 26 minutes. The type of load both weight and fabric content is factored into the time. I have not used the 'speed' cycle.

lighting on front panel of 5.2 mega washer

I wondered if there was something wrong with my new washer as I can not tell the outer cycle info and have to use a flashlight to see where i change things like water temp. etc. It is the outer perimeter that does not eliminate and was rather confusing to figure out how to work the first load.
Asked by: Luvy
We regret to read that the front panel on your LG 5.2 cu. ft. Mega Capacity TurboWash™ Washer with Steam™ Technology, Model # WM8000HWA is not visible due to it not lighting up. Try unplugging the unit then plugging it back in and see if that doesn't help. If not, then you may have a problem with the display that will need a repair service...^IFV
