Answer:
Yes, my washer has a magnet that keeps the door ajar, just enough to let air flow through the machine so it doesn't have that issue.

Answer:
They tell you to leave the front door open for a few days after use (we always leave it open and have never had mold). They also tell you to wipe the rubber door seal (on the door and the washer itself, inside and outside) with white vinegar and water - we haven't done that yet and, still, no issue yet. We had our 4.0 size for 5 years and now the 5.1 size for 6 months.

Personally I have not had an issue. I have owned this for several months. I always take out my clothes when they are finished and leave the door on the magnetic hold open latch. Have not even had to run a drum cleaning cycle yet.

Answer:
My machine has no mold odor since I use the magnetic hold feature to keep the door open slightly when not in use.
The mold on front load machines builds up under the wet seal at the bottom in particular if the door is closed completely after washing. The water on the seal doesn't get a chance to evaporate.

Answer:
Yes. This washer has a special feature (called a "magnetic plunger") that keeps the door slightly open to allow air to circulate into the drum. It also has a "drum clean" cycle, which, if used approximately monthly, will keep the machine fresh and clean. The door seal is also smaller in width, which ensures that there's less of a place for mold and mildew to grow. Hope this helps!

WM8000HVA vs HWA

What is the difference between the WM8000 HWA and HVA model? They seem identical when I compared them on your website, but there is a $100 price difference.

Left hinged washing machine to be connected on the left side of the laundry area where the faucet is always located so that clothes can easily be transferred to the the right hinged dryer on the right side of the laundry room where the exhaust vent is always located...makes sense right!!??

Answer:
The door on this model is not reversible, unfortunately. The hinge is located on the left. The way my plumbing and dryer vent is set up right now I have to have the washer on the right and the dryer on the left. (Hopefully we can change that soon. . .) My previous front-loader also did not have a reversible door, so I'm used to it. In my opinion, this is NOT a deal-breaker. The machine is so great, I'm willing to put up with a little inconvenience.

From what I've read on answers to other washers, they do not make the doors on the washers reversible. I believe the hinge is on the left side.

I own a veterinary hospital and in one of our veterinary publications we saw an article about commercial washers. In it, the WM2801 was suggested as good commercial unit for large heavy loads, i.e., lots of blankets and comforters. Since the 2801 is no longer available, should I consider the 8000 as a replacement model?

Answer:
I would recommend the 5.1 size if you want to wash things like king size comforters and blankets. It has a set wash cycle for bulky items, towels, and one for the king size bedding. I can fit in my king flannel comforter and a king sized fleece blanket in one load and both come out perfectly clean.

Answer:
4.0 = queen size comforter fits but the inside doesn't get washed well (I used to have that size)
5.1 = king size fits with room to spare (throw in the blanket too and they both get washed perfectly - I do this monthly now that we have the bigger one).

In the 5.1 you can wash a complete king comforter set with ease.
The 4.0 and slightly larger will handle a queen comforter set and 3.7 size will handle a double bed comforter set.
