A revolutionary spin on laundry

LG puts a modern spin on the traditional top load design. By moving the control panel from the back to the front, the buttons and LED display are easier to read and use. This simple change makes for a more intuitive and functional design and a look that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen.

Laundry At the Speed of Life

Soccer practice. Groceries. Dinner. Dishes. Shouldn't your laundry move as fast as you? Now it can, with LG's enhanced TurboWash® technology. Powerful high-pressure nozzles save 30 minutes per load, cutting wash time by half—without shortcutting cleaning performance, even on larger loads. Innovation that keeps up with your family calendar? That's not just laundry done fast—it's laundry at the speed of life.

*Compared to an LG top load washer without TurboWash. Based on AHAM-HLW-1-2010 test protocol. Cotton / Normal or comparable cycle at default settings, 8 lb. loads. Excludes quick wash or comparable cycles intended for small, lightly soiled loads only.

Get wise

Get wise

If you ever experience an issue with your LG washer, you don't have to worry. The SmartDiagnosis™ feature helps the service center diagnose problems over the phone, or with a simple app on your smart phone, helping you minimize costly, inconvenient service calls.

Count on it

When you buy a washer, you want something reliable that you can count on. Because the Direct Drive Motor uses fewer moving parts and operates more efficiently, LG confidently backs the motor with a 10-year limited warranty.

Measure First

You found the LG washer that fits your lifestyle- now make sure it fits in your space. These LG models are larger than typical washers, measure to ensure your purchase can be successfully delivered and installed.

Save money. Save energy.

Save money. Save energy.

When your washer uses about 30% less energy and half the amount of water used by regular washers, you’re going to make an impact—on your utility bills, your energy and water consumption, and most importantly, the environment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good features on a quiet large capacity Washer Bought two months ago and so far everything performs perfectly. My wife is not to sure if the water saving feature provides enough water to get the clothes clean. So instead of a 5 star , it gets a 4 Star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Washer Deserves A 10! I'll tell you right now that this washer has brought clothes washing into the 21st century! I love this washer! Everything about it, from the design to the performance, beats the competition hands down. There really isn't any competition. That's how terrific I think this washer is. It makes doing laundry a fun experience!!!!!! The engineers who created this washer must have been women! Hats off to LG!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Washer, Huge Drum! I got this so I could wash my comforters and I'm happy I went with this model. What an awesome machine! The stainless steel drum is enormous (and very shiny) and there are a plethora of features on the hi-tech front control panel. The machine is beautiful as well and looks very futuristic. Great buy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loads of Features and Space! This washer has been wonderful. I can finally wash my king sized comforter and mattress pad and get them clean! This washer holds so much in it that if I fill it up, I can't get it all folded! I love all the features. I can Oxi-sanitize my husband's work clothes, or quick wash something I need quickly. I can add extra water for a load that need additional rinsing. I haven't even tried all the settings yet because there are so many to choose from. My husband lives in work clothes that get wet and sweaty and mildewy after 18+ hours in them. This is the first washer that gets those clothes really clean. I've only had the washer for just over two months, but our clothes are clean, it is quiet and effective. The spin cycle is slightly louder than the rest, but not bad compared to what I was used to with our old machine. This is energy and water efficient. It is attractive and seems like a quality product. We have not had a single issue with it, and use it all the time. We generally wash 4-6 loads a week.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A washing machine should clean clothing! The machine does not clean the cloths due to the lack of an agitator. The machine does more "Sensing" than actually washes the cloths. LG and other manufacturers that make HE washing machines are missing the fundamental reason why consumers buy washing machines. I buy a washing machine to CLEAN my cloths. We have returned this machine and bought a machine with an agitator. Guess what, the new machine actually cleans my cloths. What a concept!

Normal cycle rinse water

When using the normal cycle, how much water should be added? Our new unit finishes wash and then does a very short rinse by spinning fast and spraying a very small amount of water while spinning. The unit the goes to spin cycle and there is soap left on our close and yes, we are using HE Liquid. As well, because we have this issue and have to use special function of Rinse and Spin, I notice the rinse cycle actually fills the tub with a lot of water for a good rinse and then spins. Not sure if our new machine is not functioning properly and not very happy so far.
Asked by: Dontwantone99
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. The SPIN Cycle is designed to force the soap and water through the fabrics and then spray rinse water into the tub. The spinning action pulls the water to the outer tub, so it should not show as building up visibly. If the unit does not appear to operate as expected, then the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at

We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. When using the Smart Diagnosis function, this washer will not use either a USB or Socket Modem. While on the phone with LG, it is possible to activate the Smart Diagnosis feature, which sending a diagnostic signal through your Smart Phone, or on a specialized app for this purpose.

I have this machine but have the question of how full can I fill it?s 1/2 way? I dont know how full I can fill it. Also how much detergent to use.

Asked by: babcock
You can fill it all the way loosely, but only for moderately dirty clothes. If the clothes are seriously dirty, you probably need to stay around 1/2-2/3 full. Also, add extra water for larger, dirtier loads. We use the new Persil detergent which is a High Efficiency detergent, and follow the markings inside the cap.

Where does the fabric softner go at the beginning of the wash cycle?

I loaded the washing machine and added the liquid detergent as well as the liquid fabric softener into their respective reservoirs. The setting was on turbo wash (which states that there is an extra rinse cycle). After I started the washing cycle, I noticed that water filled the basket by running through both reservoirs and when I paused the wash cycle, both the detergent and the fabric softener were gone. Of course, I would like to have the softener added during the rinse cycle. Will you please explain the mechanism so I can be assured that the softener is added at the right time?
Asked by: CrystalP
From reading your description of how you loaded the LG 4.9 cu.ft. Mega Capacity Front Control TurboWash™ Washer, Model # WT1701CW and added the detergent and fabric softener into their respective baskets and then proceeded to wash, you may have missed one step which is why the fabric softener dispensed too early. The fabric dispenser is dispensed in the final rinse but if you are using fabric softener you have to select the Fabric Softener button! (page 25 in your owner's manual) That ensures that the machine knows that there is fabric softener so it can dispense it in the final rinse...^IFV

Wash king-sized comforter

I need to wash a king-sized comforter at least once a month, if not more frequently. I'm debating between the 4.5 cu. ft. and the 5.0. Will both machines accommodate the size and weight of the comforter without wearing out the motor?
Asked by: drerey
I washed a king size comforter in my machine and it handled it well. I have a 4.9 cf machine, so if I were you, I would go with the larger machine. My machine does not have an agitator so there is plenty of room in it for a comforter.

Does the WT1701CW have Waveforce?

Does this machine have the Waveforce technology I've seen on the WT1201CW? If not, how does it compare in washing performance? Thanks!
Asked by: ChMe427
I just purchased this machine from Sears, and according to them, it does. Under their product description, it does say it has wave force technology.
