A revolutionary spin on laundry

LG puts a modern spin on the traditional top load design. By moving the control panel from the back to the front, the buttons and LED display are easier to read and use. This simple change makes for a more intuitive and functional design and a look that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen.

Laundry At the Speed of Life

Soccer practice. Groceries. Dinner. Dishes. Shouldn't your laundry move as fast as you? Now it can, with LG's enhanced TurboWash® technology. Powerful high-pressure nozzles save 30 minutes per load, cutting wash time by half—without shortcutting cleaning performance, even on larger loads. Innovation that keeps up with your family calendar? That's not just laundry done fast—it's laundry at the speed of life.

*Compared to an LG top load washer without TurboWash. Based on AHAM-HLW-1-2010 test protocol. Cotton / Normal or comparable cycle at default settings, 8 lb. loads. Excludes quick wash or comparable cycles intended for small, lightly soiled loads only.

Get wise

Get wise

If you ever experience an issue with your LG washer, you don't have to worry. The SmartDiagnosis™ feature helps the service center diagnose problems over the phone, or with a simple app on your smart phone, helping you minimize costly, inconvenient service calls.

Count on it

When you buy a washer, you want something reliable that you can count on. Because the Direct Drive Motor uses fewer moving parts and operates more efficiently, LG confidently backs the motor with a 10-year limited warranty.

Measure First

You found the LG washer that fits your lifestyle- now make sure it fits in your space. These LG models are larger than typical washers, measure to ensure your purchase can be successfully delivered and installed.

Save money. Save energy.

Save money. Save energy.

When your washer uses about 30% less energy and half the amount of water used by regular washers, you’re going to make an impact—on your utility bills, your energy and water consumption, and most importantly, the environment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Time saver, money saver! Awesome investment! We bought a new washer and dryer a month ago after our old dryer finally went out again and I got tired of buying heating elements to replace it with. Our whole set was 13 years old and it's hard for me to part with money for appliances finally we gave in and this is what we chose. I am so thrilled and absolutely love everything about this washer. We set it up ourselves and make sure it was good and level and I've never had an issue. I love the 10 year warranty and will absolutely buy more LG products!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HORRIBLE Can not believe I bought this thing. Hate this piece of junk washer...... Don't waste your money. Normal wash is 59 minutes and cloths are still not clean, Are you kidding me LG? It sure does move around a lot like its doing something, but watching your cloths barely get wet and stay in the same spot for 59 minutes is rediculous........... I can drive to laundry mat faster or wash cloths in a bucket and get better results. And if that's not bad enough, the steam dryer is terrible too (never completely dries cloths. Cloths are damp and cold, no matter how long you put them on for) So now I have a washer that never cleans the cloths and a dryer that has to be turned on 2-3 times. So disgusted I wasted so much money on these products. What made me choose these, was the recommendation of the salesman telling me, LG is the best in the industry. NO that's false. if they were the best, I wouldn't be writing this. Would have never replaced my 10 year old whirl pool front loader if they fit in the laundry room of new house. Wish there was a satisfactory money back guarantee. I would drop them off.....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stay away from this washer DO NOT PURCHASE! We made the mistake of purchasing this inferior product. It looks nice and the front mounted controls are nice, too bad they are completely useless. It has a feature called "load sensing". This non by-passable feature determines the amount of water required by twitching the dry load then spinning the dry load doing a tarot card reading, clicking the whole time. Then it either spits out enough water to dampen the load and proceeds to grind the damp load coated with the partly dissolved detergent in the tub or it will overfill the tub, floating the load well above the agitator. The laundry remains floating until it pumps out all of the gallons of wasted water out. Your clothes remain dirty but now they are dirty and wet. We have tried all of the settings and maybe one in ten loads actually gets washed somewhat clean. If there was anyway we could return this and get something with less voodoo in the features we would in a heartbeat. We need to buy another machine but it is against my nature to throw out something months old that costs hundreds of dollars. It would probably work if it would let you determine how much water was required but it doesn't allow that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super washer This can handle the big loads and they come out clean. easy to use and save on water

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not clean well! Everything is true as far as how beautiful the washer is, how large the drum is, how quiet it is BUT it does not clean well. Water doesn't cover the clothes, even on the water plus setting. It sloshes the clothes around but doesn't show any disruption of dirty clothes or bedding! I have had this washer since August and am very disappointed. Of course it's past return and when I bought it the salesman just raved about how great it was....not true. Would love to have my old time agitator back.

How do I increase the soak time to 4 hours or more or even overnight? My workout clothes need more than an extra 30 minutes!

Asked by: sp512
We appreciate your interest in this washing machine and its features. This particular model was not designed with a SOAK feature that can last that long. The SOAK option provides a 30 minute presoak prior to the start of the cycle to help remove difficult spots or stains. There is no method available to increase this time frame.

Asked by: emily rose
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. It sounds as if all the display lights are active on this display panel. It is recommended to unplug the washer for about 30 seconds, and then reconnect it. If this does not resolve the matter, then the unit may require service. We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. The best method available, for cleaning the interior of this washer would be the use of the TUB CLEAN cycle, as described on page 27 of your owner’s manual.

The "CL" code that is showing on the display of your ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 4.9 cu.ft. Mega Capacity Front Control TurboWash™ Washer, Model # WT1701CW indicates that the Child Lock is on which can only be enabled when a wash cycle is in progress. Once enabled, all the buttons on the washer except the power button will be disabled. This feature stays on even after the wash cycle completes and will show when the power button is pushed again. To disable the Child Lock feature, locate the "Soil Level" button on your machine and you should see "Child Lock" in fine print under that button. Press and hold it fr about 3 seconds and the "CL" will clear from the display. To enable it, you would need to press and hold it for 3 seconds. This feature is provided to prevent children or others from changing your settings during a wash cycle...^IFV

Normal cycle rinse water

When using the normal cycle, how much water should be added? Our new unit finishes wash and then does a very short rinse by spinning fast and spraying a very small amount of water while spinning. The unit the goes to spin cycle and there is soap left on our close and yes, we are using HE Liquid. As well, because we have this issue and have to use special function of Rinse and Spin, I notice the rinse cycle actually fills the tub with a lot of water for a good rinse and then spins. Not sure if our new machine is not functioning properly and not very happy so far.
Asked by: Dontwantone99
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. The SPIN Cycle is designed to force the soap and water through the fabrics and then spray rinse water into the tub. The spinning action pulls the water to the outer tub, so it should not show as building up visibly. If the unit does not appear to operate as expected, then the unit may require service. I have this machine but have the question of how full can I fill it?s 1/2 way? I dont know how full I can fill it. Also how much detergent to use.

Asked by: babcock
You can fill it all the way loosely, but only for moderately dirty clothes. If the clothes are seriously dirty, you probably need to stay around 1/2-2/3 full. Also, add extra water for larger, dirtier loads. We use the new Persil detergent which is a High Efficiency detergent, and follow the markings inside the cap.
