A revolutionary spin on laundry

LG puts a modern spin on the traditional top load design. By moving the control panel from the back to the front, the buttons and LED display are easier to read and use. This simple change makes for a more intuitive and functional design and a look that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen.

Laundry At the Speed of Life

Soccer practice. Groceries. Dinner. Dishes. Shouldn't your laundry move as fast as you? Now it can, with LG's enhanced TurboWash® technology. Powerful high-pressure nozzles save 30 minutes per load, cutting wash time by half—without shortcutting cleaning performance, even on larger loads. Innovation that keeps up with your family calendar? That's not just laundry done fast—it's laundry at the speed of life.

*Compared to an LG top load washer without TurboWash. Based on AHAM-HLW-1-2010 test protocol. Cotton / Normal or comparable cycle at default settings, 8 lb. loads. Excludes quick wash or comparable cycles intended for small, lightly soiled loads only.

Get wise

Get wise

If you ever experience an issue with your LG washer, you don't have to worry. The SmartDiagnosis™ feature helps the service center diagnose problems over the phone, or with a simple app on your smart phone, helping you minimize costly, inconvenient service calls.

Count on it

When you buy a washer, you want something reliable that you can count on. Because the Direct Drive Motor uses fewer moving parts and operates more efficiently, LG confidently backs the motor with a 10-year limited warranty.

Measure First

You found the LG washer that fits your lifestyle- now make sure it fits in your space. These LG models are larger than typical washers, measure to ensure your purchase can be successfully delivered and installed.

Save money. Save energy.

Save money. Save energy.

When your washer uses about 30% less energy and half the amount of water used by regular washers, you’re going to make an impact—on your utility bills, your energy and water consumption, and most importantly, the environment.

What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Washer You could wash a house in this washer. I love all of the controls that allow every conceivable type of load to be washed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No Water! This is very pretty and quiet but how can you expect to clean clothes without using water! I have to spend the time to trick the machine into using more water and then it takes over an hour to do a load. It is also very complicated and hard to use. I am very worried that this will not last and that I wasted my money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I have had this model for 3 months and it is the best Washer I have ever owned, by far. It is the second 2nd LG Washer (the other one works great still) I have bought. It gets out stains without using stain removers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful I love the top load. This barrel is huge. The glass stays clean and the buttons are sensitive like a touch screen cell phone. The chimes are adorable and I can watch the process. It uses just the right amount of water and perfectly distributes soap. LOVE

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool stuff I bought this product to replace a front load unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love my new washer! We didn't know what we were missing before we bought our new LG washer!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good features on a quiet large capacity Washer Bought two months ago and so far everything performs perfectly. My wife is not to sure if the water saving feature provides enough water to get the clothes clean. So instead of a 5 star , it gets a 4 Star.

What is the best way to clean the inside of my washer?

Asked by: Ashley_D03
We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. The best method available, for cleaning the interior of this washer would be the use of the TUB CLEAN cycle, as described on page 27 of your owner’s manual.

The "CL" code that is showing on the display of your ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 4.9 cu.ft. Mega Capacity Front Control TurboWash™ Washer, Model # WT1701CW indicates that the Child Lock is on which can only be enabled when a wash cycle is in progress. Once enabled, all the buttons on the washer except the power button will be disabled. This feature stays on even after the wash cycle completes and will show when the power button is pushed again. To disable the Child Lock feature, locate the "Soil Level" button on your machine and you should see "Child Lock" in fine print under that button. Press and hold it fr about 3 seconds and the "CL" will clear from the display. To enable it, you would need to press and hold it for 3 seconds. This feature is provided to prevent children or others from changing your settings during a wash cycle...^IFV

Normal cycle rinse water

When using the normal cycle, how much water should be added? Our new unit finishes wash and then does a very short rinse by spinning fast and spraying a very small amount of water while spinning. The unit the goes to spin cycle and there is soap left on our close and yes, we are using HE Liquid. As well, because we have this issue and have to use special function of Rinse and Spin, I notice the rinse cycle actually fills the tub with a lot of water for a good rinse and then spins. Not sure if our new machine is not functioning properly and not very happy so far.
Asked by: Dontwantone99
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. The SPIN Cycle is designed to force the soap and water through the fabrics and then spray rinse water into the tub. The spinning action pulls the water to the outer tub, so it should not show as building up visibly. If the unit does not appear to operate as expected, then the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at

I have this machine but have the question of how full can I fill it?s 1/2 way? I dont know how full I can fill it. Also how much detergent to use.

Asked by: babcock
You can fill it all the way loosely, but only for moderately dirty clothes. If the clothes are seriously dirty, you probably need to stay around 1/2-2/3 full. Also, add extra water for larger, dirtier loads. We use the new Persil detergent which is a High Efficiency detergent, and follow the markings inside the cap.

Where does the fabric softner go at the beginning of the wash cycle?

I loaded the washing machine and added the liquid detergent as well as the liquid fabric softener into their respective reservoirs. The setting was on turbo wash (which states that there is an extra rinse cycle). After I started the washing cycle, I noticed that water filled the basket by running through both reservoirs and when I paused the wash cycle, both the detergent and the fabric softener were gone. Of course, I would like to have the softener added during the rinse cycle. Will you please explain the mechanism so I can be assured that the softener is added at the right time?
Asked by: CrystalP
From reading your description of how you loaded the LG 4.9 cu.ft. Mega Capacity Front Control TurboWash™ Washer, Model # WT1701CW and added the detergent and fabric softener into their respective baskets and then proceeded to wash, you may have missed one step which is why the fabric softener dispensed too early. The fabric dispenser is dispensed in the final rinse but if you are using fabric softener you have to select the Fabric Softener button! (page 25 in your owner's manual) That ensures that the machine knows that there is fabric softener so it can dispense it in the final rinse...^IFV
