Durban, South Africa, September 2, 2010 – LG Electronics launched its 3rd Air Conditioning academy in Durban, South Africa, today. This Durban based training facility provides a professional facility for air conditioning professionals and contractors to obtain further industry training and information in the proper air conditioning installation principals and new product technology.

“Internally at LG we train and nurture talent within the organisation. Externally we can provide the tools to develop skilled workers who will one day have the ability to go on and own their own company” says Dr Michelle Potgieter, Marketing Director LG Electronics South Africa.

The LG air conditioning training academy in Johannesburg was established in March 2007 and has trained over 500 air conditioning professionals in its first year and over 2000 (2095) students to date. The Cape Town Academy was established in November 2009, with over 67 LG Academies established around the globe.

“With such a demand for air conditioning planning and installation training, LG is proud to open its 3rd air conditioning training academy here in Durban” explains Potgieter. “Air conditioning installers are an extension of the LG brand. We want to therefore ensure that they are as knowledgeable as LG staff themselves and provide value added consultancy and impeccable installation in line with LG’s global standards,” she said.

With the building industry maintaining a level of growth in South Africa, all buildings require sophisticated heating, cooling and ventilation solutions. The LG Air Conditioning Academy ensures that air conditioning installation professionals are trained to provide top-class consultancy and installations suited to any specific requirements.

LG is the first and only air conditioner manufacturer to be awarded the prestigious SABS certification award on the LG Inverter mid-wall type air conditioner, in September 2008. The certification from the SABS proves that the LG inverter technology is good for your health and environmentally conscious.

Coupled with these industry-leading achievements, the air conditioning academies are able to provide air conditioning professionals and contractors with the most comprehensive knowledge to deliver professional and efficient solutions that not only save the client money, but are eco friendly and energy efficient.

All together, these advanced energy saving technologies are incorporated throughout LG’s 2010 and 2011 line of commercial air conditioning products, providing innovative comfort solutions that meet the needs of a variety of commercial applications.

“LG’s Commercial Air Conditioning business continues to expand its portfolio with innovative energy saving options and technologies, without sacrificing product design,” said Potgieter. “Our current 2010 innovations, such as the Chiller, Multi-V & Therma-V systems, demonstrate enhanced air flow options and industry leading low sound levels in designs for all commercial and home environments.”

“LG’s goal is to provide a service that will inevitably improve the standards of air conditioning installation thus ensuring a completely flawless installation, making use of the best and most energy efficient products at the end of the day,” concluded Dr Michelle Potgieter, Marketing Director LG Electronics South Africa.
