South Africa, 20 March 2009 – LG Electronics will be sponsoring the Hirsch’s Heroes cricket team participating in the charity game taking place on Friday, 20 March 2009 at Sahara Stadium in Kingsmead.

As part of Hirsch’s 30th anniversary, the company decided the best way to celebrate this milestone was to arrange a cricket match in aid of raising funds for 30 previously disadvantaged schools in Durban, this is where the concept for the 30/30 cricket match came about. The Hirsch’s Heroes and the Natal Dolphins will be playing against each other in the 30/30 cricket match on Friday.

The Hirsch’s Heroes team consists of legend players like Shaun Pollock, Jonty Rhodes, Pat Symcox, Lance Klusener and many more.

“LG is really proud to be part of such a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. LG is the only electronics sponsor that has its logo placed on the shirts of the Hirsch’s Heroes. It is also important for us to support such initiatives that ties in with our Corporate Social Responsibility strategy. As a premium brand, LG will always share the passion and joy of the people, and perform its responsibilities as a corporate citizen,” said Dr Michelle Potgieter, Marketing Director for LG Electronics South Africa.

The 30/30 game starts at 4pm on Friday, 20 March 2009 and spectators can watch the match for free. After the match, a special gala dinner hosted by Hirsch’s has been arranged where prizes will be raffled to raise funds for the schools.

“This initiative links with our Regional Corporate Cricket sponsorship as LG has recently signed a global partnership with the ICC to be the official ongoing premium global partner of the Cricket World Cup for the next seven years,” concludes Potgieter.
