South Africa, 30th August 2011 – LG Electronics’ four core technologies for its state-of-the-art home appliances are helping lead the way to a smarter lifestyle for consumers, offering cutting edge technology choices that are greener, healthier, more convenient, and unique to LG.

These four core technologies are:
- Inverter Direct Drive™ technology in the latest LG washing machines;
- Linear Compressor technology in the latest LGDear Bradley, refrigerators;
- Lightwave Technology in the LG SolarDOM oven; and
- KOMPRESSOR technology in the latest LG vacuum cleaners.

These four core technologies are set to raise the energy efficiency of LG’s home appliances by more than 30 percent, while the company plans to meet and exceed even stricter environmental regulations in markets around the world.

“LG has long been committed to elevating home appliances above the realm of the functional to add something better to consumers’ lives, and that is precisely what we are doing with our uniquely developed core technologies,” says Kevin Hallas, Home Appliance Product Trainer.

Inverter Direct Drive

The Inverter Direct Drive Motor in all new LG washing machines enables the groundbreaking 6 Motion process. The 6 Motion process ensures a controlled spin speed, precise movement of the inner drum as well as left to right movement. It also provides for a range of washing cycles to optimally suit a variety of fabrics.

All new LG washing machines therefore offer world-class washing performance with a clean, so delicate, yet thorough wash you’d swear it had been done by hand.

Thanks to this new groundbreaking technology the LG BIG IN washers now offer a capacity of 11kg in a standard 24-inch cabinet. They also offer the benefits of cutting noise levels to just 54dB and reducing energy use by up to 30 percent compared with other A-rated washing machines. The 6 Motion process also reduces washing powder residue on clothes, soaks fabric more evenly in highly concentrated powders, and protects woolly-textured garments from shrinking.

Linear Compressor Technology

The Linear Compressor technology ensures high energy efficiency, minimised noise and enhanced durability. This technology keeps interior fridge temperatures consistent while using up to 28% less energy than a regular A+-rated fridge. Furthermore, features such as Vacuum Fresh and Humidity Control ensure that LG’s Linear Compressor refrigerators keep food fresher for longer and wastage to a minimum, thus ensuring a more eco-friendly appliance.

Lightwave Technology

The unique Lightwave Technology in the LG SolarDOM oven makes use of the highly effective Mega Heater System. This system creates light waves from a combination of heat sources, including Halogen, Sheath and Ceramic, and ensures that food is cooked evenly.

This revolutionary light-wave oven was the first in the world to combine conventional oven and microwave oven technologies.

With the help of a round cavity and light reflector heat is circulated more efficiently for speedy, high-quality cooking. The SolarDOM is up to four times faster than a conventional oven and can be heated up to 320 C in only five minutes, which means there is little need for preheating, and because the food is cooked at high temperatures for a shorter periods of time it doesn’t dry out.

Kompressor Technology

LG’s latest vacuum cleaners make use of the revolutionary KOMPRESSOR technology which compacts the debris collected at the same time as vacuuming takes place. This is achieved by using the world’s first Motorized Dust Compressing System which significantly reduces the chance of dust particles escaping back into the atmosphere. This makes for a cleaner and healthier home environment. The KOMPRESSOR technology also ensures long-lasting suction power for efficiently collecting both visible and hidden dirt, dust and grime.
