Sydney, 11th April, 2014 –The highly-anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat OS upgrade is now available for LG Electronics Australia’s (LG) flagship G2 smartphone, the company announced today, with the first notifications to customers with the Optus variant of the handset having already begun.

The software upgrade takes the user experience on the widely acclaimed LG G2 to the next level with KitKat allowing the handset to run applications up to 17 per cent faster than on the current JellyBean OS, while the improved Chromium engine gives web browsing a noticeable speed boost.

The LG G2’s already-outstanding battery life can be extended even further by a new manual option setting that enables users to choose various levels of battery usage so they can actively manage their device battery life by selecting the accuracy with which their physical location is monitored by the device. Users can also now enjoy their music for longer thanks to power-saving software that allows for more efficient music playback.

As well as improvements under the hood, KitKat carries a fresh new user interface design with white icons and graphics, while an optional ‘Immersive Mode’ makes the most of the G2’s stunning 5.2” Full-HD IPS display by hiding status bars and navigation buttons in select apps. In addition, a handy new feature, Google Cloud Printer, makes it easy to print documents

“LG is constantly striving to improve the user experience for its mobile customers and the latest KitKat OS upgrade furthers our commitment to our Australian customers,” said Lambro Skropidis, General Manager Marketing at LG Electronics Australia. “In addition to introducing new features, the KitKat OS upgrade for the LG G2 delivers a number of improvements that enhance the entire mobile user experience. We trust that our customers will enjoy the extra features offered by our latest upgrade package.”

A software update notification with instructions is being sent to current customers via a notification on the handset during April and the latest software will be preloaded to devices as new shipments are dispatched from LG for both the 16GB and 32GB product variants of the handset.
