Sydney, 6 November 2014 — Marking a century to go (of days, that is) until the cricketing world converges on Australia and its New Zealand neighbours for the ICC Cricket World Cup, LG Electronics Australia (LG) has put a big red pin in the 2015 calendar with the appointment of Australian opening batsman David Warner as its official brand ambassador.

David Warner

In typical form, Warner has knocked a six right off the bat, working behind the scenes and getting involved with LG on various marketing initiatives planned for the global competition.

“I’ve always been an LG fan because they make such great products.” said the Australian batsman. “In fact, I had already bought one of their new 4K Ultra HD TVs before I was even asked to get involved in LG’s plans for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.”

“When I was first approached about being an ambassador for LG, it was something I was immediately interested in because it’s a brand that I genuinely connect with.” said Warner.

Commenting on the announcement, Lambro Skropidis, General Manager Marketing at LG Electronics Australia said, “We wanted to work with David because he’s one of the best Australian cricket players out there – a truly top-notch sportsman. Not only that, he has qualities that match LG’s brand values, such as his ability to inspire, combined with an ability to create and be innovative – values that David openly demonstrates in his sporting life. Knowing that he’s also a genuine fan of LG’s technology really just brings it all together. It was a no-brainer for us.”

Jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 is the fDavid Warnerlagship event of the international cricket calendar and is held every four years. One of the world’s largest sporting tournaments, 14 competing countries will next year engage nearly one-fifth of the world’s population with an expected television audience of more than a billion people worldwide tuning in to the action.

“LG is extremely excited to be one of the main sponsors of such an amazing global sporting event. As one of the longest-standing global partners of the ICC, LG has a number of sponsorship initiatives and activations in the pipeline, the details of which will be rolled out in the near future. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 is going to be a massive event for Australia and New Zealand, and we’re excited that David Warner will be a part of it.” continued Skropidis.
