February 27, Sydney – LG Electronics (LG) today announced the launch of its latest refrigerator model, the Side by Side Door-in-Door.

Following the success of LG’s flagship French Door-in-Door refrigerator launched in August 2012, LG is proud to reveal the latest member of its Door-in-Door family.

LG has steadily increased its market share in the French Door category, finishing 2012 as the month on month market leaders; a direct result and testament to the popularity of LG’s innovative, premium, and unique Door-in-Door technology.

Due to demand and growing appetite for dual access doors, LG has introduced a premium, stylish sister model, the Side by Side Door-in-Door refrigerator.

“LG has long been committed to delivering refrigerators that are stylish as well as offering consumers superior convenience, and the Side by Side Door-in-Door refrigerator is no exception,” said Lambro Skropidis, Marketing General Manager at LG Australia. “With the freezer on the left and the new Door-in-Door panel on the right, the Side by Side Door-in-Door brings exceptional innovation and style to any kitchen.”

Waste Not Want Not

LG has identified that Australians need help when it comes to fridge organisation, and in fact, Australian households on average are wasting between $500 and $1,000 a year as a result of cluttered, disorganised fridges .

Similar to the French Door-in-Door refrigerator, the new Side by Side Door-in-Door features a door panel that provides quick and easy access to the refrigerator at the push of a button, revealing a new enhanced space to store and organise food and beverages and help reduce waste. The panel is great for storing and easily accessing high frequency sought after items such as milk, condiments and dairy, which is great for those with hungry children that seem to stand in front of the refrigerator all day, or for making the most out of simple entertaining for family and friends.

The Door-in-Door can be used as an organisational tool that allows perishable and easily forgotten items such as dips and yoghurt to be placed in the front dual door to reduce food waste.

Cold Air Loss Reduction

The Door-in-Door panel allows consumers to access items stored inside without affecting the temperature of the entire refrigerator. This is a useful feature that has been reported to save up to 52% more cold air from escaping than refrigerators with regular doors. With over a third ofAustralian consumers saying their refrigerator door is opened on average around 30 -49 times a day, the Door-in-Door can more effectively reduce cold air loss.

Maximised Space

In order to maximise space, the new Door-in-Door features an adjustable basket, and with the press of a button the basket can be adjusted up and down to handily fit all allocated items.

Additionally, the new Side by Side Door-in-Door has 2.5 times more internal space than an LG Home Bar model, allowing consumers to put more in and take more out of their refrigerator with ease.

Additional LG Features

Other great LG features include the In-Door mounted Ice Maker, an innovative system that allows for additional open shelf space within the freezer compartment. Original dead space has been reduced with the slick, compact LG ice maker system. From the door exterior, the dispenser is tall as well as wide to accommodate large containers, combined with an intuitive touch display control panel and simple dispenser.

Another feature is LG’s Moisture Balance Crisper™ that works to reduce dry air from creating condensation within the drawer. With a lattice shape lid the vegetable drawer helps tokeep vegetables fresher, and this combined with LG conducted researchwhich found that vegetables are the number one item thrown out by consumers, with salad in third place; the Moisture Balance Crisper™ a another great consumer benefit.

The Side by Side Door-in-Door refrigerator also features LG’s Pure N Fresh Filter technology. This innovative feature serves as an air filtration system that circulates air and deodorisesto reduce refrigerator odours.

The new Side by Side Door-in Door also comes with LG peace of mind, 10 year linear compressor parts warranty.

The new LG Side by Side Door-in-Door refrigerator(GR-D257SL 661Ltr) will be available from the beginning of March and will sell at an RRP of $3,499.
