Sydney, 13 August 2008 - Daniel Shin, Managing Director of LG Electronics Australia, has been selected as one of Australia’s top leaders in a new book profiling Australia’s most talented and inspiring managers. The inaugural edition of Super Leaders of Australia showcases Australia’s best managerial talent, demonstrating what it is that sets leaders like Shin apart from the rest of the world.

With 15 years of experience in foreign markets including Korea and Spain, the former Director of Sales for LG Electronics USA has helped establish LG as one of the strongest electronic brands in the Australian market. Shin’s vision to drive the brands growth and develop a premium product has helped the company deliver on its ‘Life’s Good’ promise.

A strong belief in the promotion of open communication within the company has also helped create passionate and efficient employees. Shin states it is important to ‘empower and incentivise employees. “Taking the time to listen, rather than just talk, encourages employee empowerment. In my experience this leads to the highest standard of work,” he said. This standard is certainly reflected in LG’s sales performance with the company boasting a healthy profit for the first quarter of 2008. In the book Shin also reveals two of the greatest influences in his life - CEO of LGE S.S. Kim who taught him the importance of business insight and decisiveness and LGE CEO USA Michael Ahn who gave him his negotiation skills and ability to identify market trends.

Having one of its managers recognised as among Australia’s elite leaders is a great honour for the electronics manufacturer. Shin is a man who strives to understand his employees, customers and market and this effort is reflected in the company’s products and performance.
