Sydney, 17 February, 2014 — Amid what some industry observers have suggested is a flat Australian solar market, LG Electronics Australia (LG) today announced that it has hit an impressive sales milestone of more than 100,000 solar panels sold since the category was established in late 2011.

That the company has sold in excess of 100,000 solar panels comes as no surprise to LG’s Markus Lambert, National Sales Manager for Solar and Lighting at LG Australia.

“Our solar panel business has continued to grow over the past two and a half years, with inquiries about quality solar product on the increase.” confirmed Lambert. “While a number of players have come and gone in recent times, we believe our success is in part due to the efficiency increase in our solar product - our 225W panels are now 300W, but with the same size 60 cell panels. LG’s widening solar panel range demonstrates the company’s continued commitment to renewable energy in Australia.”

“LG panel sales have increased markedly over the past 6 month as customers switch towards quality and from generic product to diversified solar brands. Solar customers nowadays are a lot more informed than they were 2-3 years ago and LG solar, with Korean engineering and great quality, together with the company’s brand awareness, ticks all the key decision making boxes.” said Matt Vella of MPV Group, one of Australia’s quality focused solar companies.

Another recent milestone for LG Australia includes the sale and installation of LG Electronic Australia’s largest ever commercial roof top solar system for Tip Top Butchers head office in Melbourne’s West by Euan Angus Solar. Installed over an 8 week period, every panel in the 203kW system is individually metered using Tigo Optimizers and is set to produce enough solar electricity to power approximately 50 residential homes* for decades to come.

More success for LG’s solar business also came last year when LG won the best photovoltaic product at the 2013 Intersolar in Munich, Germany with the Photovoltaic Award for its 60 Cell, 290W and 300W NeON solar panel range. Demand since the awards as been very strong.

*based on Clean Energy Council output data for Melbourne and average consumption of 6000kW/h per home.
