Sydney, Monday 27 February, 2012 – LG Electronics (LG) has unveiled one of the most anticipated Long Term Evolution (LTE) devices - the Optimus Vu. Equipped with LG’s advanced LTE and In-Plane Switching (IPS) display technology, the Optimus Vu offers a combination of tablet-like viewing with the portable ease of a smartphone.

In addition to HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) and DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance), the Optimus Vu runs on a powerful 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 32GB internal memory. In addition, the powerful smartphone also features an 8MP camera and a large 2,080mAh battery, making it an ideal handset for multimedia lovers.

“The Optimus Vu was designed to maximise what customers can do with a smartphone,” said Brad Reed, Senior Marketing Manager,  LG Mobile Communications. “By offering an optimal 4:3 ratio viewing experience, 5-inch display combined with superfast LTE technology, Optimus Vu is just one example of what we can achieve when we combine our best technology with customer needs.”

The large 5-inch display with bright 4:3 aspect ratio makes viewing documents, books and internet content easier. IPS display also highlights colours in their natural state for an amazing  viewing experience, even when held under bright sunlight.

LG’s LTE technology can also help users increase productivity with a number of key features. Its  built-in QuickClip™ hotkey allows users to conveniently capture screenshots and memos with a single push. Jotting notes is also possible with a finger or with the dedicated Rubberdium™ pen. Among many productive apps installed in the Optimus Vu, the Polaris Office app allows users to open documents, spreadsheets or presentations while on the go.

At only 8.5mm, the Optimus Vu is one of the slimmest among all LTE phones currently on the market , and despite the large 2,080mAh battery, the Optimus Vu features LG’s floating mass technology which makes the handset appear even slimmer.

Initially launching with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sand-wich is already in the works.

The Optimus Vu is anticipated to be available in Australia in late Q4 or early Q1, 2013.
Networks, retail channel availability and pricing plans will be advised closer to the release date.
