Sydney, Australia – 7 April – So how do you get to represent your country without having to endure years of training? LG Electronics Australia is giving you the chance to demonstrate the skills generated from your everyday phone usage in the LG National Texting Championships, with $10,000 prize money up for grabs and an overseas trip to represent Australia at the LG Mobile World Cup.
The crème of the Australian texting crop will undoubtedly flex their thumb muscles to showcase their superiority and win their way to the LG Mobile World Cup for the chance to compete for a share in more than USD$100,000 prize money.
Focusing on the speed and accuracy in creating texts on full QWERTY keyboards, the LG National Texting Championships will hold heats around Australia to give all texters a chance to prove themselves. State winners of these heats will be given the opportunity to compete in the national finals which will be held in Sydney in September 2010.
After a hugely successful launch season, the LG National Texting Championships are back for 2010 in the search of Australia's quickest mobile phone texter. The competition's inaugural winner Jian Li went on to place third in the worldwide championships in 2009, proving to the world that Australians have some of the nimblest thumbs around.
"Texting has become a hugely popular form of communication so LG has created the world's premiere texting championship to recognise its relevance," said Nathan Dunn, General Manager, Mobile Communications, LG Electronics Australia. "We were thrilled with the competitiveness of last year's contest and hope this year's competitors have prepared to take their game to the next level."
Providing users with rich multimedia capabilities and intuitive features, LG continues to offers a number of mobile phones that feature the convenience of QWERTY keypads including the LG Webslider KS360, LG Xenon GR500f, LG GW300 and LG GW525.
