Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for the price I recently bought it to use with my new GTX980 ti that was causing a lot of screen tearing on my other 60hz monitor. OOTB it's an amazing monitor. Colors are very nice, it's fast and my games look really better than before. Fully recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An excellent gaming monitor with a few major flaws The 24GM77 has excellent color and accuracy for a TN panel, to the point that you might even get away with some actual photo editing on it. Black levels and contrast are superb. 144hz mode is excellent, and is a real treat if you can get high frame rates in games. However, there is one pretty large flaw with this monitor. The flaw is that, when using Motion240 (which only works in 100 or 120hz mode, which is not really a problem but might confuse some folks) you cannot use the DAS (Dynamic Action Sync) feature. DAS reduces input lag, there is no documentation on how it does this exactly, but the effect is fairly significant and it is on by default and there is never a reason to disable it. Except... When you enable Motion240, you lose DAS. Which means there is a pretty major increase in input lag, to the point that you kind of lose the advantage of a "gaming monitor" which is supposed to be fast. Motion 240 is, by far,the best of the currently available technologies for Motion Blur Reduction, being far superior to Lightboost, because you lose basically no brightness, very little contrast, and suffer from none of the flickering issues sometimes noticed on Lightboost monitors. Motion240 will cause some slight color bleed, but its not a problem compared to the bad effects of Lightboost. It looks really, really amazing. The color issues are very, very minor but I mention them for completeness sake. Its worth the sacrifice compared to the massive penalties with Lightboost, etc. But losing DAS is a big, big deal. Basically, you get something like 2 or 3x more input lag with DAS off and Motion240 on. The picture in high framerate games is AMAZING, to the point that its almost worth it in some cases. Basically, more so than any other MBR tech, Motion240 makes your screen look like a CRT monitor, which is amazing. But that input lag.... its noticable. Its bad. It takes this hyper fast gaming monitor down into the "mediocre TN panel" level as far as input lag goes. If you play competitive, even moderately fast paced games, you simply cant use the best feature of this monitor. I find this very unacceptable, and I sincerely wish LG would release a firmware update to allow DAS to be active in Motion240, even if that means compromising some of the advantages of the Motion240 mode. Motion240 is so much better than Lightboost and others that even if you had to suffer a penalty to contrast or brightness or even overall motion blur reduction effect, it would be worth it for fast paced games. Keep in mind, that even with DAS off and Motion240 on, this is still a faster than average monitor. It is not even an issue in many games, but for faster games like shooters and even Starcraft or DOTA, its a problem. This is a good, high quality, expensive monitor, and none of the other competing products from other companies have this issue with the MBR tech they use, even though Motion240 does have a superior MBR effect, i feel that the price for enabling it is too high. Now, in 144hz mode, with no MBR, the monitor really shines. Amazing input lag, i believe only one other monitor (in this class) consistently beats this one in tests, and I can assure you THAT monitors color and contrast/black levels are not on the level of this one. The OSD is also very nice, with a sort of "DPAD" rocker switch for controlling the menu. The menu has some glitches, however, that are difficult to really explain, but sometimes certain things are not saved, and there seems to be some slight "wonkiness" with certain settings. You need to double check everything you do, to make sure your settings saved. The monitor has several built in "profiles" like "FPS1, FPS2, RTS1, RTS2, Cinema" and so on. But i find all these presets look terrible. Out of the box, the monitor looks the best, on the default "Custom" setting, with a few changes to this and that to taste. There is a "Black Stabilizer" that has a dedicated button on the front of the monitor, which allows you to quickly lower black levels, which in turn makes dark things in games more visible. Its basically a gamma hack, but its quiet useful at times and can be quickly disabled or enabled when needed. All in all, out of the box, I cant think of a monitor that needed so little tweaking to look good. The monitor does have all the advanced tweaking options in case you do need more complex calibration if needed, which might be the case for work related things, but out of the box for daily use and gaming, a little brightness and gamma tweaking made this monitor look exceptional, better than any of the other gaming monitors in this class that I have used. All in all, this is a good monitor, and if the DAS/Motion240 issue was resolved, this would be without question, no holds barred the best non G-sync/Freesync gaming monitor on the market. However, with that problem in place, I might have chosen a different monitor. MBR was the biggest reason I wanted this screen, and I was unaware of the input lag issues with it, as when I bought the screen very few reviews/hands on experience existed online, at least that I could find. I do regret my purchase somewhat, but its too late for me to do anything about it now and everything else about the monitor is excellent. But man, that input lag issue with Motion240 makes me quiet sad, in all honesty... You have to weight this issue in any purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent gaming monitor Since I was upgrading my graphics card to an MSI Nvidia GTX 970 Gaming, I wanted to maximize my gaming enjoyment, hence the addition of this LG. I spent hours researching reviews on 144 Hz 24" monitors and settled on this one mainly because it offered better color reproduction and contrast compared to the others of this category, especially so after uploading a calibrated ICC profile from Digitalversus. I was very, very pleased with the resulting picture considering it's a TN panel; almost IPS like richness and vibrance. Combine the nice picture with all the gaming specific features and it's win win for this LG!
