LG Life’s Good FilmFest Grand Finale
LG Life’s Good FilmFest provides prime HD viewing experiences and $100,000 to grand prize winner
Jaime King, K-OS, Steve Nash amongst celebrities enlisted to select winning submission for borderless HD short film festival
LG Electronics, a global leader and technology innovator in home electronics, has announced that the LG Life’s Good FilmFest, a borderless high-definition (HD) short film festival featuring entries from 21 countries worldwide, will conclude with its Grand Finale January 28, 2010 in Toronto at the Mod Club Theatre. The FilmFest celebrates the best HD short films from around the world and the ultimate HD experience that only LG HDTVs can offer.
The ceremony will see one talented filmmaker awarded a grand prize of $100,000, as selected by a newly announced panel of notables from the worlds of music, sports and motion pictures. This is the largest global HD short film festival of its kind, with no fee to enter the festival and open to filmmakers in any country—a completely borderless experience for all.
The LG Life’s Good FilmFest expert panel will consist of the following four notables:
• Jaime King, actress (Sin City, The Spirit, My Bloody Valentine 3D)
• K-OS, Platinum selling and Juno Award wnining singer/songwriter
• Laurie May, Co-President and Co-Founder of Maple Pictures
• Steve Nash, National Basketball Association (NBA) superstar and two-time NBA Most Valuable Player
Tim Barnes, Marketing Team Leader, LG Electronics Canada and Founder of the LG Life’s Good FilmFest, will also be part of the expert panel.
George Stroumboulopoulos from CBC’s popular current affairs program The Hour will be host of the event.
“The goal of the LG Life's Good FilmFest was to create a film festival with no barriers to entry—regardless of experience, location or economic status,” says Tim Barnes from LG. “This borderless FilmFest is the perfect complement to the borderless LG HDTVs recently showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Life’s Good when you combine the finest HD content with the finest HDTVs.”
All panel members will appear live at the Grand Finale, with the exception of Steve Nash who will be appearing via video (his Phoenix Suns have a home game on the evening of the Grand Finale). The event will feature $10,000 prizes awarded to winners in each of the four FilmFest categories (Animation, Sports, Fashion & Music, and Narrative) and the announcement of the $100,000 grand prize winner, plus interviews with Life’s Good filmmakers and a very special live musical performance.
The LG Life's Good FilmFest kicked off in August 2009 and invited filmmakers from around the globe to submit inspiring HD short films. Each HD entry was to be no longer than five minutes in length and was asked to express a positive, uplifting message that conveyed the notion that "Life's Good." Many of the top short film submissions are showcased online at the official website of the FilmFest (www.lgfilmfest.com).
