"Dead End Countdown” Is On: Montreal band The New Cities to perform at 2nd Annual LG Canadian Texting Championship in Toronto


Canadian texters compete to win up to $25,000 in cash and prizes


MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO — June 5, 2009 -  Today LG Electronics Canada announced The New Cities will perform live at the LG Canadian Texting Championship’s finals on Monday, June 29th. The event, which will be free to the public at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square, will feature the fastest texters from across the country.


Fans and texters across the country now have 3 ways to qualify for a spot in the Toronto finals. These qualifiers will receive a trip for two to Toronto, 2-night accommodation, $1,000 spending money, a chance to meet the band and a walk-on spot in the finals where you can win $25,000 in cash and prizes: 


Hopefuls are encouraged to create a Facebook group entitled “Help (name) become the next LG Canadian Texting Champion”. The person with the most friends by June 12th automatically wins a walk on spot for the competition.


Canadians across the country can also play the Crypto Short Form 2 game at, where one of the top 10 finalists will be randomly chosen to compete in the LG Texting Championship in Toronto. One lucky person will also be chosen randomly and entered as the wildcard into the draw.


Finally, Canadians can also compete in person at one of the regional competitions across the country to earn their spot into the finals. Remaining regional competitions will be held at:
