Carlie Wong brings the glamorous gangster of the 1930s
to L'Oréal Fashion Week this SS09 season

October 1, 2008. VANCOUVER, BC — Inspired by the 1930s this Spring/Summer season, the Carlie Wong SS09 collection is “Gangster meets Glamour.” The Vancouver-native is quickly becoming known as the new designer for luxury sportswear in Canada.

On October 22, 2008 at 3:00pm, Carlie Wong will present her Spring/Summer 2009 line along with the launch of three new LG mobile phones at Nathan Phillips Square’s main stage. A testament to her design philosophy, Wong’s work features quality construction, attention to detail and a strong eye for silhouette and proportion. Her focus is to design feminine, tailored pieces that translate from work to evening; perfect for the career-driven female. True to her style and an ideal fit with the new iconic LG phones, Carlie Wong is all about effortless luxury with a confident attitude.

The SS09 line features fabrics sourced from New York and Italy, such as fine silks, luxury jerseys and silk cotton blends. With tailored separates and Grecian draping, Spring/Summer 2009 features the perfect mix of masculine and feminine pieces, as new shapes and proportions create dynamic silhouettes. Artful ruffles, jumpsuit styles and plunging necklines come together to create a fluid collection. “This season I experimented with separates; offering fresh cuts, shorter hemlines and one-piece jumpsuits.  I’ve also explored design details such as oversized ruffles and Grecian draping.”

Frequently compared to Canada’s design darling, Jay Godfrey, Carlie Wong’s flirty creations are highly tailored and her signature silhouettes, ultra-flattering. Carlie Wong’s creations place an emphasis on classic and modern contrasts as SS09 sees sportswear separates that are a perfect complement to her cocktail-ready pieces. Above all, Carlie Wong designs her line for the strong, confident and passionate woman. “Cell phones are the weapon for today’s Glamorous Gangster so we’re excited to deepen our relationship with Carlie Wong and to create a perfect harmony between fashion and technology,” says Andrew Barrett, Vice President, Marketing, LG Electronics Canada. Carlie Wong exudes with excitement as she launches her new SS09 collection, “I want the women who wear my clothes to feel feminine, yet empowered and unstoppable. She’s the Glamorous Gangster.”
