CONNECTING TO A WIRED NETWORK Connecting to a wired network is rather simple and straightforward as long as you have all the necessary components. |
Do you have a preexisting wired network? If you have a network already set-up and working for other devices you will simply need to connect the LAN cable to the back of the LG device from the back of the router/modem.
If you do not have a wired home network already set-up you will need to have a broadband modem (Cable, DSL, etc.) and a router, which is sometimes combined with a modem if obtained from your service provider.
Note: if you do not at least have a modem, you will not be able to set up a wired home network. If all the necessary accessories are on hand, follow the on screen instructions and select Wired Network when prompted to select the connection type. |
Selecting the IP Settings Take the LG remote and select the HOME button Navigate to SETUP Scroll down to NETWORK Select CONNECTION SETTING |
Auto IP Setting (Most Common) Select Auto IP Setting from the on-screen menu. Using the Auto Setting is the most common and simplest form of connecting to a network and will allow you to connect without entering in any information. |
Manual IP Setting (Advanced, Less Common) If you prefer to set the IP Settings manually, you may need to contact your Internet Service Provider to obtain the necessary IP information. You can attempt to do the following manually using the steps below. |
Windows XP: Select the "Start" menu and highlight "Run" In the dialogue box, type "CMD" then click 'OK' In the command prompt window, type "ipconfig/all" then click 'Enter'. The IP address of the computer, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS Server is displayed. |
Windows 7:
By knowing the IP address of the computer or a router on the network, you can assign this device an IP address. You simply change the last set of numbers to a number that is not being used by any other device on the network.
The additional information (Subnet Mask, Gateway, DNS) from the command window can be entered into the remaining fields of the IP settings on the LG device. |
