Doors do not Seal - Side By Side

Inspect the seals (gaskets) around the doors to be certain that they are clean and free of debris. If the seals are dirty or sticky, this can cause the doors to have trouble sealing. If necessary, clean the seals with warm water and a mild detergent. Be certain to rinse the seals well. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners.

If the seals are torn or damaged, the unit will not seal in the cold air which can prevent the unit from maintaining proper temperature in the unit and will make it run more often. If this is the case, the seals will have to be replaced.

Check the arrangement of food and other items in your refrigerator so that nothing is interfering with the functionality of the doors. Check the shelves and bins for any items that may stick out too far. Rearrange items if necessary.

Make sure that your refrigerator is leveled and that the doors are aligned properly. Use a small torpedo level, making sure that the unit has a slight tilt towards the back. Use the legs at the bottom front of the unit to adjust the unit, allowing for a slope towards the back. Refer to your owner’s manual for information regarding leveling your refrigerator.

If the doors appear out of alignment, refer to your owner’s manual for information regarding alignment of the doors.
