LG Appoints Industry Heavyweight To Drive UK Home Appliance Growth
Andy Mackay appointed to new sales director role
Berkshire, UK, 4 January 2007- In a significant strategic shift, LG Electronics today announces a change in its organisational structure in the UK, allowing the company to place an even greater focus on home appliances in 2008 and beyond.
As it seeks to grow its established, premium positioning within the UK kitchen appliances and floorcare marketplace, LG has created an entirely new role to which it has appointed Andy Mackay. The position is UK sales director, digital appliances and the role covers the cooking, floorcare, refrigeration and laundry portfolio. Andy took up his post this week.
This move means that the home appliances area has a dedicated sales director, allowing a high level of senior management involvement and specialism in what is a growth key area for the company.
Andy joins LG from Electrolux, where he gained extensive management experience, having worked for nearly 20 years across the group's major appliances, floorcare and outdoor sectors. Most recently he was the Electrolux group brand & marketing director, responsible for all Electrolux, Zanussi and AEG activities within the UK & Ireland.
Commenting on his appointment, Andy said: 'LG is a truly global organisation with clear plans for growth - fuelled by innovative products, customer focus, and a commitment to strong and consistent brand investment. And to be involved in shaping the company at this time is a very exciting prospect.'
'The new structure will allow the UK team to place a stronger focus on home appliances, working with our trade partners to really deliver what our consumers want.'
Already a strong and leading brand in both 'Vision' Models (LCD and plasma screens, DVD and home cinema products) and mobile communications, LG is now firmly set to further develop its established positioning as a supplier of premium home appliances.
