Athletes ready to carve a place in history this weekend with 2009 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup

<p align="left"><em>LG Mountain Festival also set to kick off winter competition with free  public entertainment and activities for the family all weekend </em></p>

<p align="left"><strong>Vancouver</strong><strong>, February 11, 2009</strong> –Today LG Electronics Canada proudly reconfirmed their support and  sponsorship of the Canadian Snowboard Federation and the Canadian National  Snowboard Team at an international press conference that kicked off the 2009 LG  Snowboard FIS World Cup. The competition, which will  host the world’s best snowboarders, begins tomorrow at Cypress  Mountain, West Vancouver, with prizes of over $150 000 in  cash. </p>

<p align="left">Delivering on their promise to achieve  the perfect harmony between superior performance and unparalleled style, LG has  paired this world class competition with a world class celebration. Fans and  athletes will rock out at the LG Mountain Festival, which will feature a snowboard rail contest, DJ series, LG fashion shows, a vendor village/food  court and a big screen playing highlight reels from the day’s competitions at Cypress so no one misses a  moment of the excitement. Spectators will also be able to get up close and  personal with athletes as each evening, World Cup winners will receive their  awards on the festival stage. Open to the public, the LG Mountain Festival is free and will take  place at Park Royal, West Vancouver  February 13th – 15th, 2009.  </p>

<p align="left">This year’s action packed LG Snowboard FIS World Cup will feature  326 riders from 31  nations fighting for World Cup medals and honours in Snowboardcross, Halfpipe  and Parallel Giant Slalom. Canadian athletes include 2009 World Champion in  Parallel Giant Slalom,  Jasey-Jay  Anderson (Mont-Tremblant, QC),  2009  World Championships silver medallist in Half Pipe, Jeff Batchelor (Oakville,  ON), Drew Neilson (Vernon, BC), Crispin Lipscomb (Whistler, BC), 2006 Olympic  Bronze medallist, Dominique Maltais (Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, QC), and  Maëlle Ricker (West Vancouver, BC).</p>

<p align="left">At the press conference, Crispin  Lipscomb, member of the Canadian National Snowboard Team conveyed his  enthusiasm for the competition ahead, “It’s already been such a great season  for the team, and we’re all really thankful  for LG’s support at this weekend’s World Cup. “&nbsp; Lipscomb opened up the '08-'09 pre-Olympic season in Cardrona, New Zealand on the podium,  with a Halfpipe bronze medal to add to his growing collection. “We’re all stoked to not only compete for the  World Cup title, but to also have the chance to be riding at Cypress Mountain,  just one year out the Games.”</p>

<p align="left"> “The LG Snowboard FIS World Cup event on Cypress Mountain  is a highlight this season. Scheduled a year in advance, the event is a true  test of events set for 2010 in the Halfpipe, Snowboard Cross and Parallel Giant  Slalom.&quot; said Marcel Looze, Race Director for FIS Snowboard, &quot;We are  looking forward seeing the best snowboard riders in the world participating on  these new and challenging courses.&quot;</p>

The FIS Snowboard World Cup 2008-2009 competitions  have been taking place since September 2008 across 20 resorts/cities in 15  countries and will conclude in March 2009. Cypress marks the first of two Canadian  venues. The second FIS World Cup event will take place from February 18th  to 22nd at the Stoneham Mountain Resort in Quebec City, which will include a Big Air contest. </p>
