Distinctive four-inch wide HD LCD display brings images to life

Berkshire, UK, July 30th, 2009 - LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in mobile communications, today officially revealed the latest images of the new LG Chocolate (LG-BL40) and its key specifications, which include a 4.0-inch wide HD LCD screen with an 800x345 pixel resolution. The wide HD LCD “Real VGA” screen presents a vibrant range of natural colors, allowing photos to appear sharper, videos more true-to-life, games naturally vivid and documents more readable.

The new LG Chocolate is the fourth handset in LG’s iconic led Black Label Series. Featuring a distinctive wide screen, the new LG Chocolate displays a 21:9 aspect ratio for panoramic, cinema-like quality. The mobile Internet user experience comes to life without the need to continually scroll horizontally to read an entire web page, while the Dual Screen UI can efficiently display different content simultaneously.

“The initial response to the new LG Chocolate phone is exceeding our expectations by a wide margin,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications. “Although much of the interest seems focused on the striking shape of the handset, the real surprise will be when people discover the advantages of the 4.0-inch screen in terms of viewing pleasure and ease of use.”

Jeremy Newing, head of marketing, LG Mobile UK and Ireland says, “Selling over 21million units, the success of the first iconic LG Chocolate paved the way for style and design in the mobile industry and the Black Label Series has continued to bring design led handsets to the consumer. With the new LG Chocolate, LG has combined the latest in touchscreen technology with a new chic and slick design to meet consumer demand for HD content. This handset revolutionises the viewing experience on a mobile phone.”

The new LG Chocolate is overlaid with curved tempered glass and is seamlessly encased in a glossy black finish and in true Chocolate heritage sports iconic red highlights. Although the screen may be much wider, the new LG Chocolate makes an incredibly slim and chic style statement that was so inherent the original Chocolate.

The new LG Chocolate will be available beginning Q3 in 54 countries. More information is available at
