Rated 1 out of 5 by from No wonder it is discontinued! I purchased this unit 9/2014. It just went out last week. It powers on but will not blow at all. I am not surprised at all that this model is discontinued. For some reason, this particular unit only has a 1 year warranty. Which means I need to come out of pocket to get service and parts etc... My other 2 units have 5 year warranties. I'm very disappointed with this purchase and will never buy another LG window unit again. I've had a GE unit for 10 years and never had an issue with it.

Is the "dry" setting more energy efficient than normal mode?  Seems to be quieter that way.

Asked by: TxSLP
Dry mode would be more energy efficient than Cool. In Dry mode, the compressor and fan will turn off once the set temp is reached. While in Cool mode, the fan will stay on even after the desired temp is reached.

How do I take the grill cover off for cleaning without breaking any peices

Asked by: Bahamabell
We appreciate your interest in this air conditioner. According to page 20 of the owner’s manual, it should not be necessary to remove the entire front grille from this cabinet. The filter should be extracted from just below the Air Discharge Vents. The front and inlet grilles should be wiped, periodically, with a cloth dampened in a mild detergent solution. The cabinet may be washed with mild soap or detergent and lukewarm water, and then polished with a liquid wax for appliances. To ensure peak efficiency, the external condenser coils should be checked periodically, and cleaned if necessary, for any clogs of soot or dirt from the outside atmosphere.

I own an LG model 1014ER and use it to cool my living room. Recently it has started making a rather loud humming noise while it is running. Sound comes and goes but it is getting louder and is lasting longer. Why is it doing this and how do I fix it?

When and why would I use the drain pipe washer screw piece?

Does it need to be in place with initial installation? When does it need to be installed? How do I install it? Does it need to be in place all the time?
Asked by: Craigiee
Hello Craigiee, as described on page 19 of your owner's manual for the LG Air Conditioner, Model # LW1014ER, "In humid weather, excess water may cause the base pan to overflow. To drain the water, remove the drain cap and secure the drain pipe to the rear hole of the base pan. Press the drain pipe by pushing down and away from the fins to avoid injury."...^IFV
