DUAL Inverter Compressor™

LG air conditioners with Dual Inverter Compressor™ eliminate unnecessary noise and provide cool temperatures with up to 25% energy savings. Experience the powerful yet quiet performance of LG’s ultra-efficient, revolutionary inverter technology.

Maximum Cooling for Maximum Comfort

LG DUAL Inverter Window air conditioners provide exceptional cooling power that will keep you and your family cool, comfortable and in control.

The Coolest Energy Savings Around

Unlike typical air conditioners that turn on and off to adjust temperatures, the DUAL Inverter Compressor™ constantly adjusts its speed to maintain desired temperature levels. That means less fluctuation and greater energy savings of up to 25%.

LG’s Inverter room air conditioners produce substantially more energy savings when compared with non-Inverter room air conditioners. Inverter technology is used in conjunction with a variable-speed compressor. It adjusts compressor motor speed to regulate temperature more effectively than non-Inverter room air conditioners, which turn the compressor either on or off. Testing has shown that LG’s Inverter room air conditioner model (LW1517IVSM) saved 25% more than non-Inverter room air conditioner model. This was measured in the following manner. The Department of Energy (DOE) test procedure for room air conditioners does not measure Inverter technology and thus does not reflect energy savings as between Inverter and non-Inverter Technologies. AHRI Standard 210/240 (2008) (2008 Standard for Performance Rating of Unitary Air-Conditioning & Air-Source Heat Pump Equipment) does measure Inverter Technology (see §6.1.4.7, Tests For A Unit Having A Variable-speed Compressor) under a variety of conditions. Testing was thus conducted using AHRI 210/240 (2008) § 6.1.4.7 and Energy Star Directive No. 2011-04 (verification testing for certification bodies), as well as the criteria of the Energy Star 2018 Emerging Technology Award Requirements; Room Air Conditioners with Efficient Variable Output (EVO), which has been awarded to LG. In the meantime, LG is working with DOE on developing a DOE test procedure that will directly address Inverter Technology for room air conditioners. Testing was conducted at Intertek, a third-party laboratory.

Quiet Operation

LG air conditioners operate at low sound levels of just 44dB, thanks to LG's unique BLDC Motor and DUAL Inverter Compressor™, which eliminate unnecessary noise and allow for smooth operation that you’ll barely notice.

Total Control From Your Phone

Total Control From Your Phone

Access your air conditioner anytime, anywhere on any wi-fi enabled device, thanks to LG's exclusive SmartThinQ® app. Turn your air conditioner on or off or change the temperature right from your smartphone. It even works with Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant, so you can control your air conditioner with the sound of your voice.

What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hands down the coolest AC ever made! So I got it about a month ago and couldn't be happier. The compressor is silent unless its going full throttle. (thats only if it was off and room is really hot) For the most part compressor runs continuously but at a low speed and low current draw. The fan is really quiet and speed changes are so gradual you wont notice. The unit doesn't drop in the window but you install the outer shell that weighs just about nothing. Once its secure in the window you slide the Ac in like a cartridge. Super safe install. Only a few cons. The side wing walls the retaining clip on the bottom is kinda weak. What i want is to have runing data on the APP like power consumed, running speed and downloadable history.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great AC I upgraded from a 10,000btu unit and couldn’t be happier! It runs so quietly and almost effortlessly. The Dry mode is great!! Sometimes just taking the humidity out of the house is all that’s needed for comfort. Also being able to turn the unit on/off and adjust settings from the App is handy. The pup stays comfy while I’m at work :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Frustrated!! Bought this unit to cool our cabin based on reviews; extremely disappointed while running fan hits the shrowd. Even went back to the store to do an exchange and the second one did the same thing. Cools really well but extremely noisy and annoying.

Does this bring fresh air from outside or does it recirculate indoor air?

Asked by: jackie2778
The LG 14,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart wi-fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1715IVSM has a ventilation lever that can be pulled out to open the vent and draw fresh air into the room from outside...^IFV

Joel You state it has a EER of 11.2 The standard units have a 12 EER. Does this mean the standard unit will use less electricity than the double inverter unit?

Asked by: drice
Drice, both EER and CEER assume the air conditioner is always running at full capacity. The majority of the time the full BTU capacity of the unit is not required because not every day is 100+ degrees. Under such conditions, regular ACs will cycle on and off to maintain a room temperature. By contrast, this unit will reduce the compressor load to operate like a lower-BTU model, once the desired temperature has been met. This method is more efficient than cycling on and off the compressor. If window ACs had SEER ratings, this unit would likely have a higher SEER rating than the 12 EER units, as SEER takes into account the fact that full cooling capacity isn't always required. You'll probably start to see SEER ratings on window ACs once more units begin taking advantage of variable compressor technology.

What are the dehumidifying levels of this unit? I see that it does have a 'dry' function, but there is nothing listed in the performance section to show this.

Asked by: Triciaf
Dry mode removes up to 4.5 pt. of moisture from the air in a hour to control humidity. We hope this information helps. Does the unit continually run even after it reaches the set temperature?  Or does it come on and go off like a central AC unit does?

Asked by: RDeeJ
When the LG 14,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart wi-fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1517IVSM is in COOL Mode, both the fan and the compressor will run even after it reaches the set temperature. In Energy Saver mode, the compressor and fan turn off when the set temperature is achieved. Approximately every 3 minutes the fan turns on to allow the unit sensor to accurately determine if more cooling is needed...^IFV

How does the advertised "Indoor dB(A) (High/Mid/Low/Sleep) 58/55/52/44" correspond to the actual functioning of the unit. I.e. manual does not detail "High/Mid/Low/Sleep" operational Modes. How to enable the 44dBA mode? Would the compressor be running?

Asked by: ReaverShado1
LG air conditioners operate at low sound levels of just 44dB, thanks to LG's unique BLDC Motor and DUAL Inverter Compressor™, which eliminate unnecessary noise and allow for smooth operation that you’ll barely notice. The 44dB mode sleep is a mode that keeps operating noise to a minimum and turns the air conditioner off after a set time. The timer can be set from 1 to 7 hours. What is the avg or estimated (based of certain reqirements) power used within a 24-hour period to maintain a temp of 76F on a sunny day, with a peak external temperature of 84F to cool the max area (approx. 800sqft).

Asked by: ReaverShado
Regrettably, we do not have specifications for the requested information about the LG 14,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart wi-fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1517IVSM. LG is currently working with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on developing a DOE test procedure that will directly address Inverter Technology for room air conditioners. The unit has an Energy Efficiency Ratio of 11.2 so it will have a power consumption of 1,240 Watts/hour (1.25 kW/h)...^IFV
