As a previous owner of several HBM235 units, I was quite shocked to find that power switch on this unit has changed to such a FRUSTRATING design. First, it takes two hands to turn it on. The switch is microscopic and very hard to toggle and it's on the INSIDE. It's almost impossible to turn on once it's on your ear. I am constantly putting this unit on my ear then after attempting to powerup, failing and being forced to take it off and do it. The older HBM235 can be easily turned on with one finger holding down the big silver button after you put it on. DON'T BY THE HBM-280.

Using that since a month,battery level and auto connectivity announcement are the best features.The only problem I feels is the wider size of earpiece,which resulted in pain while in use for couple hours.Long battery life,better sound and lightweight are some other good features.Overall it's a good quality product.

The ONLY thing about this product that just irks me is the cheap earpiece. After the first one broke, I got it replaced and it broke. I just broke the 4th earpiece. I have used blue tooth's for many years and have never had a problem with an earpiece at all. But the plastic on this one is very brittle and every single one of them snap at the same place. It truly is a great product, but you have to have an earpiece (that works) to use it. Otherwise, you have to hold the earpiece to keep it from falling off. Enough said.

How do i turn up the volume

We appreciate your interest in this Bluetooth Headset. According to our information, this ear piece has a VOLUME toggle switch on the upper edge of the device, allowing for INCREASE ‘+’ and DECREASE ‘-‘. Beyond this, it is possible to increase volume through the phone settings.

How to install?

With the Power off, press the CALL button and move the power switch to the ‘ON’ position at the same time for 4 seconds. Using your handset, find the Bluetooth menu and “search for” or “add” new devices. Select “LG HBM-280” from the list of devices to pair it with your device. If you are asked for a passkey or PIN during pairing, please enter “0000”(4 zeros). Once the devices are paired, you will hear “Headset paired”. After pairing has been completed, make sure you “connect” to the LG HBM-280. If you want to pair with a different device in the future, the headset must be placed into pairing mode. If the headset is in pairing mode for 3 minutes without being connected to a device, the HBM-280 will automatically turn off.

Does headset need to be On position to charge it

Not keeping charge. Do I need to turn it on or off when charging

No, it doesn't need to be on while charging. If yours isn't keeping a charge, either the charger has "burnt out" or the pins inside the unit are bent. You should send it back to the manufacturer if its still under warranty or if not under warranty, try "Geek Squad" at Best Buy. Good Luck!

Mute control for the HBM-280 bluetooth earpiece

I don't see a user manual available on-line at the LG website for support. Is there any instruction for how to use the volume up/down buttons in some combination that causes the mic input to be muted?

How can I fix the on/off button

The on/off button has become very loose and springs to the off position with the slightest vibration. Is there anything I can do to stop it? It is unusable as it is.
