Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great upgrade from my LED TV speakers. If you like your sound systems to have enough bass to rattle your kidneys. . or . .if you like to listen to your TV at the maximum volume level. .or. .if you are expecting the LAP240 to sound like a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system, then move on to another product review. The LAP240 is a major improvement over the anemic TV speakers included on most LED Flat Screen TV's. It provides detailed highs, clear mids for conversation and decent lows to pleasantly round out the sound coming from your TV. The LAP240 is more attractive and far sleaker than any of the soundbases that I previously tried using in my home environment. Most of the negative reviews knock the LAP240 because it only has an optical connection. They also say that the sound of the LAP240 distorts at the maximum volume level that they test it at. Fortunately, both my TV and Set Top Box have optical outputs. Also, I never listen to my TV at anything close to the maxium volume level. Perhaps, that is why I am very pleased with the sound improvement provided by the LAP240 and would recommend it to anyone. That is, anyone not wanting an infrasonic massage of their kidneys.

The only physical buttons on the LG 100W 4.1ch SoundPlate™ with Bluetooth® Connectivity, Model # LAP240 are the Power button and the Volume +/- buttons and the F (Function) button. Of those, the only one that would cause you to experience the issues you're experiencing is the F (function) button. Press that repeatedly to select the appropriate function for your audio to play on...^IFV

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this Sound Plate system. It is recommended to unplug the power cord from the system and allow it to sit for about 45 seconds to a minute. After this time, reactivate the system and test its operations again. my newly purchase 4.1 soundplate loses audio for brief periods on occasion.

this may only be for 1 to 2 seconds or less, but long enough that you may miss 2 to 5 spoken words.

Check to make sure the audio cable is connected completely to the TV, I had to really "force" the cable into the TV until I heard an audible "click"
