What People Are Saying

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dumb design Ok sound but the speaker bar blocks the IR signal from the remote to the LG OLED TV. I had to install an IR Blaster to work around the problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needs surround speaker compatibility I purchased my sj9 atmos soundbar last spring (unaware what i was truly looking for would be released the following year), and although i truly love it, due to some misinformation on the part of both LG and the retailer i was led to believe id be able to expand with rear channel speakers in the future. After much confusion i found that not to be the case. For a stand alone soundbar it cant be beat in my experience for movies, I only wish id know about the soon to come SK10.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Constant "Not Supported" Messages When it works it's amazing, however no matter what I'm watching (xbox one x, tivo, anything via HDMI), it will occasionally slip out of 5.1 and grind to a halt while displaying NOT SUPPORTED and then snapping back. It happens every 5-50 minutes, but when it does it totally takes you out of whatever you're watching or playing. On top of that, when you first turn everything on there's no audio. Video passes through fine but not video. You either have to turn everything off again or log into the Soundbar with the app and turn DRC off and on a few times until the audio restores (I keep it off by default). Super disappointing, I wish I had never purchased it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the cost I bought this several months ago to pair with my 75" 4K Smart TV and I couldn't be more impressed. Connected by HDMI (ARC), the sound is crisp and with the wireless subwoofer...movies and music sound great!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great so far I bought this ad a demo, hooked up to my Xbox one s and no atmos. However, after updating the software the atmos signal popped up on the screen and made a difference. Only con I have is I wish it had more hdmi ports. Still pleased with it and can be extremely loud.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ALL AROUND GREAT SOUND BAR !!!!!!! The sound quality if far greater than I imagined and it is easy to use. It has a lot more muscle than you would expect in a sound bar. LG has cracked the code on giving the customer a great audio experience.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from expectation not met poor quality I have had issues with this sound bar from day one. It does not sync with my LG c7 tv. Not able to use the atmos feature or the 4K pass through. The voices are off sync and I loss sound completely during movies and gaming. Must restart complete system to get sound back.

This is called a 500Watt system and shows 5 X 43 watts speakers plus 200Watt sub-woofer = 415Watt. What happened to the other 85 watts?

Asked by: Saatdhaan
The Total Power (RMS Output) for this LG 5.1.2 ch High-Resolution Audio Sound Bar with Dolby Atmos, Model # SJ( breaks down as Front - 43 W RMS x 2 (4 Ω at 1 kHz, THD 10 %)/ Center - 43 W RMS (4 Ω at 1 kHz, THD 10 %)/ Surround - 43 W RMS x 2 (4 Ω at 1 kHz, THD 10 %)/ Top - 43 W RMS x 2 (4 Ω at 1 kHz, THD 10 %)/ Subwoofer - 200 W RMS (3 Ω at 80 Hz, THD 10 %). If you add that up, you have 86W + 43W + 86W + 86W + 200W = 501W. What the 5.1.2 description in the model number means is that the [5] refers to the number of traditional surround speakers (front, center, and surround). The middle number, [.1] refers to how many powered subwoofers you can connect to your receiver and the final number [.2] refers to how many in-ceiling or upward-firing speakers are in your Dolby Atmos® setup...^IFV

Hallo, can the Lg sj9 Soundbar passthrough HDR/HDR10 and Dolby Vision Conntet to my LG OLED 2017 Tv ??? And if so why i cant find any Info about it on the Product Page ??? I want to use Dolby Vison an my TV and Dolby Atmos on the Soundbar!

Asked by: Tay2018
On its product information page on our site, http://www.lg.com/us/home-audio/lg-SJ9-wireless-sound-bar, the key features indicate that the LG 5.1.2 ch High-Resolution Audio Sound Bar with Dolby Atmos, Model # SJP has 4K Passthrough (HDCP 2.2). HDR10 uses “static” metadata and Dolby Vision uses “dynamic” metadata" which is carried in a 4K signal in video content that has been mastered for those HDR standards. You will need HDMI 2.0a and High-Speed HDMI Cables that can carry 4K signals. Some earlier cables do not have the bandwidth to carry a 4K video signal or the ability to transmit HDR data. If you have the wrong cables, the 4K HDR content coming from your video source will not be passed on to your TV screen. If you want 4K resolution with or without HDR, you need High-Speed HDMI cables. Just keep in mind that just because all High-Speed HDMI cables should transmit 4K at 60 fps with HDR, doesn't mean that they all do. Cables wear out so the older a cable is, the more likely it is to have developed a flaw that inhibits 4K HDR performance. Cheaply made cables are more likely to wear out more quickly. If you bought your cables after 2009, they will likely transmit 4K resolution and HDR. If you bought your cables after 2009, they will likely transmit 4K resolution and HDR. If you want to be sure you're getting the best possible performance, buy cables that specify Premium High-Speed HDMI on the packaging...^IFV

Music Flow speakers, such as the H3, H4, H5, H7 for my SJ9. Where can I buy? Any other solutions wireless.. for Dolby Atmos experience..

Asked by: shankarj6
I have two H7s in my current  setup. My setup consists of Oled65c7, Sj9 connected through ARC port, Xbox One X, the two H7s for rear using wifi connection , and the music flow app on my iPhone. I purchased both through Amazon. I periodically have to reconnect H7s on music flow app (maybe once a month) but other than that they work great.

I have my OLED65C7P connected to SJ9 using an optical cable. Does Dolby ATMOS not come through to SJ9 because I’m using optical cable?

Asked by: Shak from PIT
Correct! Dolby atmos only passes through a HDMI with 2.2 . Optical provided will NOT pass Atmos! Also has to be in the Arc HDMI and tv should be updated to fix the pass through by issue.

how well will this work with a high-def flat screen tv that is older (approx. 10 years) that does not have 4K technology? what limitations in sound will there be?

Asked by: nopunintended
A ten year old TV places your TV around 2008 and by then, most TVs had an Optical Digital Audio Output on them that can be used to connect to external receivers, Home Theater Systems or Sound Bars that have an Optical Digital Audio Input on them. The LG 5.1.2 ch High Resolution Audio Sound Bar with Dolby Atmos, Model # SJ9 has an Optical Digital Audio Input that can be connected to the Optical Digital Audio Output on your TV if is has one. The Optical Digital Audio port supports multi-channel audio, like Dolby Digital. It will not pass Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD Master Audio. The supported audio formats on the SJ9 include Dolby Digital, LPCM which are also supported on your older TV. IT also supports Dolby Atmos, Dolby True HD, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS Digital Surround which are probably not supported on your older TV. You will need to refer to your TVs manual to see what audio formats are supported and you can compare them to those supported on the SJ9. Your TV also is most likely not a 4K UHD TV so it will only support 1080p and your HDMI ports are in all likelihood, HDMI 1.4 with HDCP compliance. They will not pass a 4K signal. The SJ9 supports 4K Pass-Through since ity supports HDCP 2.2 so it can deliver the full home cinema experience with no loss of 4K image quality when connected to a 4K UHD TV that has HDMI 2.0 ports that are HDCP 2.2 compliant...^IFV
