What people are saying
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice product SL5Y I bought the SL5Y on 9/14/19 from local best buy. Nice surround bar but not plenty features to adjust the treble and Bass. Both only goes to five. I normally keep it on the Bass feature also. Feels more surround to me than ASC, Stand, DTC, and LGTV. Bass feature sounds good and you can hear the base. In order to get the full surround though you must purchase the LG Surround Kit. To me the bar nor subwoofer wasnt quite cutting it for me. The kit must be purchased with it also to give u that surround sound feel behind your head. The kit come with two LG speakers and a modem to sync it to your LG SL5Y bar. It made a world of a difference. They want you to purchase the product but dont tell you everything you need to purchase with it. It was simple to sync the SL5Y bar, sub, and kit all together to my 70inch LG TV. If you have a LG TV it's a must you go into your settings then sound and check the audio/opt feature. I gave this a hard three because they dont tell you about the Surround sound Kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features Have owned for approx 3 weeks. Have owned Samsung and Vizio sound bars, and the sound of this 2.1, 400 Watt LG sound system blows them away. The sound is stunningly magnificent. Easy peasy set up that even a 62 year old can do.

Neither the LG SL5Y 2.1 Channel 400W Sound Bar w/ DTS Virtual: X & High-Resolution Audio nor the LG SPK8-S 2.0 Channel Sound Bar Wireless Rear Speaker Kit, Model # SPK8-S support Multi-Pairing so you can only pair one SPK8-S with one SL5Y Soundbar at a time...^IFV

When I connect my iPhone via bluetooth the sound bar sound is extremely louder than when it’s connected to my television, is that how it’s supposed to function ?

Asked by: Sarroyo06
There are several things that could cause this such as connection to TV, the song choice, the volume of your phone etc. It does sound like this could be normal functionality. Will the soundbar auto detect the input source (Optical/ HDMI/ Bluetooth) and turn on. Or do you need ton use the remote. I have a LG65UM7300PUA and assume the TV remote can control this as well.

Asked by: Michael 62
The LG SL5Y 2.1 Channel 400W Sound Bar w/ DTS Virtual: X & High-Resolution Audio automatically turns on from an input source (OPtical, LG TV or Bluetooth). When you turn on a TV or external device that is connected to it will recognize the input signal and selects the suitable function. If you try to connect your Bluetooth device, the unit turns on and connects with your Bluetooth device. This function can be turned On/Off...^IFV

Where should the subwoofer be placed in relation to the sound bar?

Asked by: Dan11
You can place the wireless subwoofer anywhere in your room. But it is better to place the subwoofer near the main unit. Turn it slightly toward the center of the room to reduce the wall reflections. ^CP
