Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Product but not Smart!! I bought this product recently and it has a good picture quality and ease of use, but the main and the only drawback is the apps given are limited and more cannot be downloaded from LG content too, whats the point of buying a wireless projector and still have to use other streaming devices to use HBO or Prime etc, a good software update is needed! else its just any regular projector not a Smart one!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice I bought this in December 2018 for Christmas. I am very satisfied with the product but there is a brightness difference with the mirror and without it. I suggest to Lg to use a TIR prism rather than a mirror

What type of screen is recommended for this HU80KA projector. I am looking for a portable screen to complement the portable projector. Please specify color, gain, etc. Preferably provide specific manufacturer, make, model. Thank you

Asked by: deesapa
Regrettably, LG does not recommend a specific type of screen for the LG 4K UHD Laser Smart Home Theater CineBeam Projector, Model # HU80KA as this is something that you will need to speak to a projector specialist about so he/she can qualify you based on your needs. There is a variety of screens that will range from under $100 to over $2,000. Some are motorized screens, some are manual projector screens. There are two kinds of screen materials widely used for home theater. One is the traditional white that has been in use for decades, and the other is a light to medium gray. Gray screens are often called high contrast screens because their purpose is to boost contrast on digital projectors in viewing rooms that are not entirely dark. The gray screen absorbs ambient light that strikes it better than a white screen does. High contrast projectors, when used in a totally light controlled environment, should be used with white screens. However, a totally light controlled environment entails much more than just being able to turn the lights off. You need to consider the latent contrast value of your viewing room as well. You also need to consider if you plan to have a dark theater room, with dark walls, ceilings, furniture, carpets? Do you plan to view with no ambient light in the room, just as in a commercial movie theater? If the answer to these questions is yes, then your best solution is a white screen with a high contrast projector. The true videophile will go to great lengths to establish these viewing conditions-this is classic high-end home theater at its best. However, most home theater enthusiasts don't have the luxury of a dedicated, fully darkened viewing room. Projection systems are frequently set up in living rooms, multi-purpose entertainment rooms, and family rooms that have light colored walls, ceilings, drapes, etc. Thus, even when the lights are fully off, the light being reflected from the screen will bounce off of the reflective elements in the room and back onto the screen. In this situation, a gray screen will be more effective at killing this incident light and thus maintaining deeper black levels on the screen. We highly recommend that you speak to a projector specialist to determine which screen best suits your needs...^IV

Can you provide some options for ceiling mounts for this projector?  I bought one about 3 weeks ago, and I’m having a hard time finding a ceiling mount.  If I can find a retractable mount that can disappear into the ceiling, that would be ideal.

Asked by: Jonathanpost
The owner's manual for the LG 4K UHD Laser Smart Home Theater CineBeam Projector, Model # HU80KA recommends attaching a ceiling-type bracket with M4 x 8 mm screws with a recommended Torque of 4.34 ~ 6.94 ibf-in [5~8 kgf·cm]) to prevent damage to the case. You can consult retailers who specialize in projectors about what ceiling mount will best suit your needs. ^CP

Can i use my Bose sound bar to produce my surround sound?

Asked by: Mikey 121
Or just get a reciever/hdmi hub and connect everything to that. Connecting projectors to sound is never an issue that way. ARC support is great and wish my old system had it!

Can you hook a surround sound system up to a projector

Asked by: Nick7141
Absolutely! Just need a hub to connect all your sources. I use the old dvdo edge green with a wireless transmitter, and works great. no cables anywhere, just power cables out of sight. Newer and better products are available, or probably any a/v reciever would work. Just need to get the video signal to the projector and the wireless hdmi is wonderful.
