What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding quality of video I bought mine about a week ago and I am very satisfied with my whole experience with it. Mounting it using a ceiling mount was a breeze. The image quality on just a blank wall painted black was shockingly good. The screen arrives later this week. It is installed as part of a dedicated home theater and at its price range is a terrific value. Highly recommend this projector.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressed This isn't cheap, but I've been very pleased with the product. The only drawback, albeit limited, is the form factor. I use mine primarily as a ceiling-mounted projector, and the reality is that it was challenging finding a ceiling mount that really balanced this product well. The one I have works, but it's ultra-sensitive. LG would do well to create a ceiling mount specifically for this form factor. That said, I did like/desire the portability aspect as well, so it's worth it a slight annoyance when needing to adjust how the screen lines up. Otherwise I think this thing is outstanding. I love the software UI and though there is a serious need for additional apps (Google Play Movies; Movies Anywhere; YouTube TV, etc, etc) - it's pretty cool to have baked in apps on the projector itself.

I have a LG 65" 4k tv with web 3.5 and I just ordered the HU80KA yesterday which also has the web3.5, however I have just learned there is no VUDU or Amazon like my 65" set! I assumed I would get them. How am I supposed to watch 4K movies without the apps?

Asked by: Highwater
As long as the projector has an hdmi input, Apple TV 4K is your best choice.  The device plays Vudu App now in 4K,  also your movie choices increase thru Apple Itunes in 4K HDR.

I will be ceiling mounting and projecting to a 100" screen. The top edge of the screen is 11" from the ceiling. What is the optimal distance and drop for mounting the HU80KA?

Asked by: Highwater502
Hi Highwater502. There should be an adequate open area of 30 cm [11.8 inches] or more around the LG 4K UHD Laser Smart Home Theater CineBeam Projector, Model # HU80KA. You can adjust the angle of the mirror to change the screen height, and you can adjust the screen location when the mirror angle is 43˚-53˚. When the mirror angle is about 43˚ or less, the projected image is partially cropped because the projected light is cut off. If you decrease the mirror angle further or close the cover, you will not see anything on the screen and if the mirror is closed, the projector will turn off after about a minute. When the mirror angle is about 54 degrees or more, the projected image is partially cropped because the projected light escapes the mirror. You ceiling bracket may dictate the drop, but you will need to take the aforementioned mirror angle into consideration. The projector has a 1.0 x Zoom or a 1.2 x Zoom and depending on which one you select, the projection distance will vary as will the screen size. The projection distance for a 40" screen size when using the 1.2 x Zoom is 45.1 inches and the maximum screen size you can project is 150 inches with a projection distance of 171 inches. When using the 1.0 x Zoom, the smallest screen size you can project is 33 inches with a projection distance of 45.1 inches and a maximum screen size of 125 inches with a projection distance of 171 inches. There is a table of projection distances for varying screen sizes between the minimum screen size and maximum screen sizes for each zoom given in the owner's manual for the projector...^IFV

What surround sound speakers can I get for my 49 inch led lg tv

Asked by: Sscdffgs
If your 49 inch LED LG TV has an Optical Digital Audio Output in the back, you can connect that to an external receiver, Home Theater System or Soundbar that has an Optical Digital Audio Input on it and play the audio through their surround sound speakers. You will not be able to connect speakers directly to the TV. Knowing the model number for your 49 inch LED LG TV would help so we can determine if it has an Optical Digital Audio Output on it...^IFV

Just bought the 4k Projector. It is very nice. I am having a tough time finding a ceiling mount for it. Since it is shaped oddly, the mounts I am seeing are all too big. And it seems too heavy for any small mounts I am seeing. Any suggestions?

Asked by: Matt74
Hello, glad you love the HU80KA. Since we do not manufacture a mount for the HU80KA, we do not have a recommended mount for it. ^AC
