What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks to be a great projector, but price? I have been looking at 4K Ultra Short Throw projectors, and the specs on this one surpass the others on the market. The big question is *price*.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't wait If this has a decent price and doesnt suffer from the same focus issues their last UST projector has, it will be an amazing buy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lost a customer Time to move on. I previously wrote this as a 1 star and LG removed it. There are obviously glitches with this projector since they won’t release a date. Probably not wise to buy it right away. That said, the waiting game has forced me to drop LG and move on to another projector. My basement project has been riding on this to complete. Oh well. Poor communication and customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 4k UST I’m waiting for I own LG projector PB60G is my first and still use till today as daily watching projector in 100” size screen in dark room. I really like this projector because it very small portable but still give good picture quality. However many technology change many of other media player devices now are capable of driving higher resolution beyond what my projector capable. Then i’m looking for upgrade my projector and what i’m looking for now is ULTRA SHORT THROW 4K LASER PROJECTOR. I search through many brand there are some cheap 4k projector but not liked or laser, some Chinese UST 4k laser project but I don’t like Android OS that come with it. Now LG has HU85LA that i’m looking for and still waiting for it’s coming out. So exciting about this projector.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Many nice features built-in My only complaint is the 120" limitation, but this camera has more overall features than most cameras I reviewed, I will need to see what the price will be to truly judge what the price vs value will be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Short Throw 4K Heaven I can't wait to get ahold of this unit. I've owned 2 other LG projectors and loved both. 720 and 1080 combined with the smart TV made home a movie theater. The only thing not revealed is if google TV is featured in this product. Google assistant is listed and it would be a shame if all that programming left the full google experience on the table.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from “Seeing is believing” As soon as I see a price and release date, I’ll decide if it’s worth the price and the wait. Until then, I’m always keeping an eye out for something out sooner...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Promising specs, but still unclear on 3d support This could be a cinephile's dream, depending on the launch price, but one thing that is yet to be clarified is whether this will support 3d blu ray. Whilst 3d TVs have pretty much died out (for many, many reasons - including coming too soon in the updgrade cycle on the heels of HDTV, a number of poor early post-conversions, and lacklustre implementation in mid-range and early TVs) 3d on a home theatre projector is an entirely different kettle of fish as the technology is much more impactful when viewed on larger screen sizes. It's also worth bearing in mind that even now 3d blu ray releases continue to come out (including the likes of Alita Battle Angel, Aquaman and Captain Marvel) and many blu ray enthusiasts have extensive libraries that include 3d titles which they continue to enjoy (including most of the MCU films, kids movies from studios like Illumination (Despicable Me), DreamWorks (How to Train Your Dragon) and Disney/Pixar (Monsters Inc, Toy Story, Coco, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King etc) and a number of other titles which really benefit from 3d (Life of Pi, Avatar, Gravity, Hugo, Kong Skull Island, Ready Player One, Terminator 2, Titanic - to name a few). It would therefore be a shame if fans of the format are forced to chose between 4K UHD and 3D blu ray going forwards. I love my Optoma GT5000+, but would love to trade up to a 4K laser based UST but still be able to watch all of my content. Yes 3d bd is niche, but then so are black and white films and I find it hard to fathom how anyone would begrudge the LG HU85L supporting black and white blu rays like The Seventh Seal or Metropolis (even if you didn't watch such films yourself).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would get the LG HU85LA instead of the Optoma P1 Looking at the specs vs the Optoma P1, I would definitely go with the LG HU85LA! Can’t wait to replace my existing UST with this one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just wow! I am ready to get that projector in my house. I have looked for months to get the right deal between quality and affordability. Based on what I can see LG prices well it’s projector and it won’t break the bank. Have you seen the specs? They looks amazing and I can’t wait for a release date. I was about to spend 5K on a Sony regular projector and it would have required some change to the room et . But with this LG Short throw my room is ready and I won’t need to remove the chandelier... please provide a release date ASAP!
Date published: 2019-06-02
Rated 4 out of 5 by from ease of use The throw specs alone are enough to rave about, an important part of what makes the LG HU85LA so attractive is the quality of the projected image.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't wait to try this out! I'm holding off on replacing my LG PF1500 with this. There are other options but LG really did something great with the 1500 LED 1080p projector and now I'm a lifetime LG fan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Am I correct, still lack of HDMI 2.x? Can you clarify me, how it will utilise HDR10 while eg. gaming from PC? According to my best knowledge it still won't be possible to do that via included HDMI 1.x and Miracast.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid device. LG thanks for the demo. Paired easily with my sub. Sound was surprisingly good. Add a ambient light rejecting screen and this product soars. Look for the full review on my channel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Please release retail price ASAP I've been anticipating the release of the HU85LA since NAB 2019. It’s now mid-May and there is still no price available even though all previous models have been reduced. I think I speak for everyone when I say I'm happy to wait for this product as long as the retail price is released ASAP and demo models loaned to reliable content creators for review.

Can this projector be mounted upside down, flush into the ceiling? Does it have a flip-screen feature in the settings to enable upside down mounting?

I saw a report on another website which states that this can be mounted on a ceiling 7.1 inches from the wall for a 120 inch picture, So, sorry for my earlier post on this subject.
