What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dolby Atmos This is an excellent DVD working with Dolby Atmos.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What year was this made? I’m not sure what year this device was made, but I don’t think it was the 2017 model. First of all, why is there no Bluetooth technology? I want to set up my streaming and this wants me to plug in a LAN cord like some sort of caveman. Second, it had the start up screen design of the original Oregon Trail. Did your graphic designers die of dysentery in the middle of making your menu? And third, technology is making things smaller and I open a box containing a small aircraft carrier. Nothing special about the look. At first, I thought someone had replaced my player with a Betamax as a joke.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Spotty 4k playback Bought a UP875 few months ago to use with my 4k UHD TV. Would not play the 4k version of E.T. all the way through. Skipped, stuttered. Player got hot. Put in the Blu-ray version and that played fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good basic 4K DVD player Just needed a 4K DVD player to use with my new LG 4K smart TV which I use to do any streaming required. Discs load fast and the picture quality is excellent. Plays older regular Blu-ray discs as well. Connects to the internet for software updates. Single AAA battery remote control feels a little cheap but overall an excellent value for the price.

Does this model decode dolby atmos ? Or just bitstream? How about DTS:X...can it bitstream it also?

Asked by: Kokoy
The LG 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc™ Player with HDR Compatibility, Model # UP875 does not support DTS:X. In the Blu-ray Disc specification, Dolby TrueHD is an optional codec. Dolby TrueHD audio tracks may carry up to 8 discrete audio channels (7.1 surround) and 20 objects of 24-bit audio at 96 kHz or up to 6 channels (5.1 surround) at 192 kHz. Since Dolby TrueHD is an optional codec, a companion Dolby Digital bitstream (2.0 192kbit/s or 5.1 448kbit/s/640kbit/s) must accompany the Dolby TrueHD bitstream on Blu-ray discs. Blu-ray Disc players consider this combination of two audio bitstreams as a single logical audio track, and a Blu-ray Disc player will automatically select the Dolby Digital or Dolby TrueHD bitstream depending on its decoding and/or audio bitstream output capabilities. A spatially-coded substream is added to Dolby TrueHD or Dolby Digital Plus. This substream represents an efficient representation of the full, original object-based mix. This is not a matrix-encoded channel, but a spatially-encoded digital signal with panning metadata. Atmos in home theaters can support 24.1.10 channels,[24] and uses the spatially-encoded object audio substream to mix the audio presentation to match the installed speaker configuration. Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD are supported with maximum 7.1 channels if you use the HDMI connection for the audio output of the unit and you will need to connect this player to an amplifies that is capable of decoding Dolby Atmos...^IFV
