What is the direct predecessor of this model? I'm looking for a currently released ultra-wide with both g-sync compatibility and picture-by-picture capabilities.

Asked by: soorr
No Matunos is wrong. This is not an ultragear monitor series, its their "ultrawide" series (marketing segment). The direct predecessor is LG 38WK95C-W. Same white back panel and Thunderbolt capability. The g-sync compatibility, higher refresh rate, and HDR600 are the new features.

Will the Thunderbolt 3 port support video-in from a laptop or phone? Or is it purely for usb hub connection?

Asked by: tbluhm7
USB-C refers to the type of connector and not the underlying technology. Thunderbolt™ 3 uses the USB-C connector. Manufacturers have embraced Thunderbolt™ 3 for its USB-C connector and because of the Thunderbolt™ 3 features- mostly fast data transfer for storing files. Not all USB-C ports support Thunderbolt™ 3, so while smartphones and tablets may use the USB-C connector, the Thunderbolt™ 3 platform is only available on devices with Intel Processors. So, while you can technically plug any USB Type-C device or cable into a Thunderbolt 3 port, it won't support Thunderbolt's features. And a Thunderbolt 3 peripheral plugged into a regular USB Type-C port won't support Thunderbolt features either. Thunderbolt™ 3 supports the DisplayPort protocol too, so you can use one cable to daisy-chain and drive multiple 4K displays at 60Hz. Thunderbolt is also bidirectional and provides four lanes for PCI Express Gen 3 and eight lanes for DisplayPort 1.2 connections...^IFV

How will availability be for this? This seems to share almost all the specs of 38GL950G-B without the g-sync and gamer aesthetic. Availability of the 38GL950G-B is so limited I haven't been able to buy one since its announcement at CES 2019 a year ago.
