What people are saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for multitasking! I bought this product a couple weeks ago and I just love it. So easy to multitask instead of having several monitors. Amazing resolution, we are very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best monitor for non-gamers. People buy a lot of dongles and adapters for the mac, but with a single USB C connection allows it to not only charge my mac, but also use the various USB ports built-in on the display. It is a display, but also a charger and adapter. My old MacBook Air ran two displays, and this caused one of the monitors to black out intermittently. I know some people face this problem, but this is not because of the monitor, but because the MBA doesn't support displaying two monitors. You can check by searching for the product specifications of your mac. I quickly switched to MacBook pro to correct this blackout problem. When I used a Macbook Air without USB-c, I used a mini display port to HDMI adapter cable. Everything displayed in a 3840X1080 instead of the 5120x something resolution. It looks equally big enough. The monitor isn't as comfortable pixel by pixel as a native mac display, but the trade off is worth it. Compared to getting two 23 inch display, one 49 inch display is much better. Without the gap in the middle, an ultra wide monitor can be used as actually three monitors. Allowing one to use the left, middle, and right portion of the monitor. In a twin monitor display, one can only use the left or right monitor in general. No one uses the two monitor's middle, where there is a gap. Half the image on one screen and the other on the other one. My only complaint right now is that you can't change the volume directly from the Mac's keyboard. I hope there is a software update for this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So nice! So yeah it's wide, you get that in the specs, it's the same scale as 2 quad HD 27 inch monitors. One small thing though that's just not obvious from the reviews though is that you can actually drive this monitor via USB-C if your system supports it. I plugged in into the Type C port on my 2080ti, and what do you know, Windows just connects and works without any issues. In addition the USB ports on the display still work as well. Makes for one less wire dragging across your desk, which is always a small welcome addition.

I would really like 2 of these. I have been poking around for stands and have not found anything that would support this monitor, especially in a dual set up. Can you tell us what stand was used for the dual stacked monitor set up in some of your advert

The supplied cables are too short for my setup and the documentation says to only use the supplied cables. If third party cables are connected to the monitor could the monitor be damaged?

Asked by: bikerpilot
Unfortunately we cannot support the use of 3rd party cables as we cannot guarantee their compatibility or performance. Any issues caused by 3rd party cables would not be covered by our warranty.

The Monitor works great but the USB-C cable is too short! I tried to call LG to get a 6' long one. The parts guys are not helpful and say I have to find one on e-bay or Walmart! No other cable works, including the belkin 5K Thunderbolt cable Apple sells.

Asked by: K M M
Major design flaw. My machine is basically within kicking range thanks to this. Not cool LG. I actually just use the HDMI and not display port which negates the 5k completely. I overpaid for this as a result. Very sad.

Has anyone been able to get full resolution (5120x1440) using a single cable with a Mac Pro (late 2013), trash can? I get a blurry, cropped screen at full resolution. 3840x1080 looks OK but I would like to use 5120x1440.

Here's the answer to your problems: go to URL www.madrau.com and get SwitchResX. I am running a Mac Book Pro 2019 and a Mac Book Pro 2016 using a LG49WL95C monitor in 5120 x 1444 resolution and it works great with SwitchResX installed. I'm not at all affiliated with SwitchResX but I'm one happy user! I wasted hours reading about the problems with the non-standard 5120 x 1444 resolution on a Mac due to the LG monitor not being registered in the Catalina graphics display table due to some weird arcane problem and looking for a solution. This solution works great!.
