LG Styler: Why do my clothes still smell after the Normal cycle is complete?

  • Troubleshooting

At a glance

The Styler uses air and steam to remove odors from clothes.
Clothes that have been left in the closet for a long time or clothes with old stains have odor particles embedded in the fabric, so they may still  be smelly even if you use the [Normal] cycle in the [Refresh] menu.
Also, if your clothes are not completely dry, moisture and odor particles may remain in the clothes.
If you do not regularly clean the inside of the Styler and its parts, it can also cause unpleasant odors.
Note

For clothes made of fur, leather, or silk that may be deformed or discolored, use the Special Care cycle.

Use the [Fur/Leather] cycle in the [Smart Download Course] menu on the LG ThinQ app.

Try this

Did you put clothes that had been left in a closet for a long time or clothes with a strong smell in the Styler?

→ Wash your clothes before using the Styler or run the [Heavy] cycle in the [Refresh] menu, or run [Sanitary].

Odors are removed from your clothes more effectively if you use the Styler right after the odors are absorbed into the fabric.
If odors still remain on your clothes after the [Normal] cycle in the [Refresh] menu is complete, run the [Heavy] cycle in the [Refresh] menu or the [Normal] cycle in the [Sanitary] menu that sprays more steam.

Are your clothes damp after the [Refresh] cycle is complete?

→ Run the [Normal] cycle in [Gentle Dry] one more time.

For damp or thick clothes, moisture or odors may still remain on the fabric after the [Refresh] cycle is complete because they aren’t completely dry.
In that case, run the [Normal] cycle in [Gentle Dry] one more time.
Also, if you leave the Styler close for a long time after the cycle is complete, the moisture and odors that remained inside the Styler may be absorbed into your clothes.
After the cycle is complete, take out the clothes immediately and leave the Styler open for air circulation.
