Burners Do Not Light - Gas Cooktop

     

  1. Turn the knob to the LITE position to see if the surface burner sparks or a clicking sound is heard. If no spark is seen or clicking sound is heard, the cooktop will require repair service.

  2. Remove the burner caps and check the ignitors and any of the ports for debris or blockage. If soil is seen on the ignitor, clean the ignitors with a soft bristled brush such as a toothbrush or a soft cloth.

     

     

  3. Check the gas supply coming in to the home, making sure the gas valve in the ON position. If the gas valve is in the ON position and the burners are still not lighting, the cooktop will require repair service.
