Oven Under Cooking - Gas Ranges

Oven temperature issues may be resolved without a technician. If you see any error on the display screen, please visit our Error Codes - Cooktop and Range page to resolve the error.

Poor cooking performance may be the result of the settings, rack position, amount, position of food, or even the thermostat setting.

Follow the steps below to resolve the oven issue:

  1. Use the correct settings.

    • Ensure that the unit is set for the correct temperature scale: °F instead of °C (Fahrenheit instead of Celsius).

    • Confirm the temperature was set within the unit's temperature range:

      NOTE: This temperature range below may vary by model, please refer to the owner's manual for your specific model for accurate temperature range. Download a copy from our Manuals and Documents page.


      Convection Bake

      300°F / 150°C

      550°F / 285°C

      Broil Temp

      Lo - 400°F / 204°C

      Hi - 550°F / 288°C

      If set to 600°F, temp will default to maximum temp of 550°F

      If set to 100°F, temp will default to minimum temp of 150°F

    • Verify START was pressed within 25 seconds. Otherwise the display will clear and the oven will not start heating.

  2. Preheated oven before cooking.

    Preheat the oven if the recipe calls for it.

    • To preheat the oven, set the oven at the correct temperature.

    • Preheating is necessary when using convection bake and for good results when baking cakes, cookies, pastry and bread.

  3. Amount of food being cooked.

    When cooking too much food at once, overall cook time is longer.

    • Follow packaging directions and recipes as instructed for best results.

  4. Oven rack position.

    Cooking results can be affected if the rack is in the wrong position.

    • The heat distribution at each rack position is different.

    • It is NOT recommended to cover the racks with any materials such as aluminum foils. This will hinder even heat distribution.

    • The owner's manual for each model identifies the different rack positions. Please visit our Manuals and Documents page to download a copy.

    • Center pans on racks for best baking results. If baking with more than one pan, place the pans so that each one has at least 1" to 11/2" of air space around it. Do not allow pans to touch the walls of the oven.

  5. Using aluminum foil.

    NEVER cover the bottom of the oven with aluminum foil.

    • DO NOT use foil to line the warming drawer.

    • Do not block any slots, holes, or passages in the bottom of the oven or cover an entire rack with materials such as aluminum foil.

    NOTE: GAS UNITS ONLY: Aluminum foil may be used to catch a spillover. To do so, place a small sheet of foil on a lower rack several inches below the food. NEVER entirely cover a rack with foil. This will disturb the heat circulation and result in poor baking.

  6. Cooler or takes longer than prior unit.

    When the unit is cooler or takes longer cooking time than your previous unit, this can be the result of the oven's thermostat settings.

    The oven's thermostat setting comes preset from the factory. However, this setting can be adjusted.Refer to the owner's manual for the customer's model for detailed instructions. Please visit our Manuals and Documents page to download a copy.
