Activating your cell phone

Activating your LG phone establishes the connection to your carrier allowing you to make calls, send messages and navigate the internet.

Note: Some Settings, Menus, or Icons may differ from that of your device depending on your software version and wireless service provider.

Before starting:

    • Ensure your phone is charged and can power on

    • If you have the box the phone came in, keep it close by.

To activate your phone we can try different ways:

    • Plug and play: you can try simply powering the device if its a new device purchased from your carrier.

    • Activate on line: in some cases you may need to register it on line, (usually when adding a previously used device).

You can activate your cell phone in a few simple steps:

  1. Ensure the Sim card is in the phone, (if you don't have one, you can purchase one from your carrier)

    • On some phones it is behind the battery

    • On other phones, there is a Sim tray that needs to be popped out with a pin (location may vary depending on the model)

  2. Power on the device

  3. If the phone is new, it should walk you through the initial set up.

  4. Check if you have signal bars and attempt to make a call to test if the phone is active.

  5. If the phone is not active you will get a message providing you instructions on how to activate the phone.

For further support you can contact your carrier.

You are able to register your phone on line, usually used to activate a pre used phone.

You will need to obtain the phones IMEI / MEID from:

    • On your device, go to Settings > About Device (or About Phone) > Status. Some devices have an extra step: IMEI information.

      • For some devices you are able to dial *#06# and it will display the IMEI on the screen

    • If your phone has a removable battery, remove the battery to see the IMEI / MEID

    • On the box of the phone

    • On the receipt
