What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Typical LG quality I have owned the 47” model for over 4 years now, and it has performed flawlessly. Not the resolution of the newer models, but a very good picture. This is used in our bedroom, so it has not been abused. Will own LG anytime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great TV for the Price My wife purchased this TV in 2014, TV is still working great with no issues. Sound is not the best but a soundbar can easily fix this. I see everyone saying that the picture went out, they must be watching it 24/7. I know its discontinued but it is a good TV.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good thing this TV is Discontinued Omg...We purchased this TV 3 years ago for Mom. First picture went..Then sound. LG DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR TV'S. We just discussed purchasing a 65" ... adding to the 5 we currently have. Will not be purchasing their tv products anymore. I think LG should only sell the products they are going to stand behind and be proud to have their brand on

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved it til it died at less than 3yrs old Bought this in the summer of 2014. Tonight was in the middle of a game and all of the sudden there was no picture. Still have sound. Doesnt look like the backlights are on, I did the flashlight test and there is still an image on the screen. So either I splurge on replacment parts that might fix it if it is the LED driver but could still be the LEDs themselves. Things aren't built to last anymore. We are a throwaway society.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad TV 3 years and 3 months after purchase the LEDs went out. Cheaper to purchase new than get repaired.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Loved but died! I loved the LG brand and was excited to purchase out TV in December 2013 but here we are and I have no screen and no sound! Did some investigating on fixes and tested a few remedies and found with a flashlight the screen was on but no backlight( too complicated for me) and called to try to have it repaired and no one around works on LG .Now to look for a new TV. Disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great TV Great TV, but only lasted 3 years. Screen blacked out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Died After 19 months ! TV was working fine until the picture suddenly went out. Have been a long time LG customer (TV's,phones, etc) and have always been until now. I never imagined a TV that was less then two years old would suddenly go out. We only have TV on 2-3 hours a day (max!). Very disappointed and not sure if I will purchase another.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Short Shelf Life - Buyer Beware! Folks, I purchased the above TV and it completely died two weeks after its one year warranty. In researching the various ways to have this fixed, I was alarmed by the sheer number of people who were having the same issue! (Coincidentally, I purchased an LG Smart DVD (model BP540) at the same time and it broke shortly after the TV.) In looking at reviews, the number of problems around the one-year mark is positively staggering. If you are considering purchasing ANY LG product, please seriously consider an extended warranty.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from TV Quit After 2yrs TV worked fine for two years until one day, in the middle of watching it, the picture just went out. The sound was still on, but no picture. I'm beginning to understand why these products only come with a 1 yr warranty. Lesson learned: when purchasing LG, positive reviews don't mean squat. Get the extended warranty or face costly repairs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy! TV has sound, but the picture went out. The TV is less than 2 years old! I want to buy one of the latest LG TV's but I am very hesitant now!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Short life This TV quit working exactly 2 years and 27 days after purchase. First the picture went black then the sound quit working. Worst TV we ever purchased. Never again.
Date published: 2016-02-03
Rated 1 out of 5 by from didn't last but a year After 13 months, the picture died. Too much money for that tv not to last but a year.
Date published: 2016-01-20
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Horrible TV in the long run I am so disappointed in this 47LN5200 model TV. within a year of having it one of the HDMI ports went out (should have been the first clue that this was going to be a horrible purchase) and now just recently the began a constant reboot cycle where none of the buttons on the TV or the remote will function. Worst TV ever.
Date published: 2016-01-19
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great price for a very good TV. This product is discontinued now but I have been very happy with the quality of the picture. The sound is not as good as the picture but you can add a speaker system to fix that.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from LG 47LN5200 The worst TV I have ever owned Had the TV less than 2 years and the back lighting went out. Bring back the CRT they last 20 to30 years!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 1 Year then No picture, only sound. Had the TV about a year then the picture went (LED failure). Looks like a common problem with this TV. No more LG's...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I will never buy an lg again We purchased an lg 47 model 47 LN 5200-Ub television. We had it a total of 13 months and the display panel went bad. I understand that we should purchase an extended warranty but you wouldn't expect a television to go out in that short of a time. For us to get it fixed is more than the tv is worth.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Chromecast or Apple TV compatible per LG The TV in and of itself is great. However, it's now 2015 and there are other TVs that are much better and worth the investment. This particular one is very choosy when streaming a movie from either my Chomecast or Apple TV. I wish I had known that this TV isn't capable of streaming with other devices as I would have purchased something else entirely. LG should really consider implementing software updates for their older models.
Date published: 2015-02-03
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Picture However.... The unit only has 1 HDMI port and 1 USB port leaving no room for component upgrading once the cable co to install the HDMI is used there. There's virtually nothing you can do without either changing the home theater system or stay with what you have. Shouldn't be the other way around? I find myself at the mercy of the Television. It's goo for now but later I'm not so sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best on the market. This product is made by the best manufacturing co in the world. The setup was so easy. Out of the box, and onto the table where it sets. Took only 10 - 15 minutes. Hook up was as easy. Disconnected the cables from my old TV, and hooked them up to my new LGTV. The system was operational in less than 10 minutes. I have been waiting for the perfect LGTV, and now I have it. The only thing that it was missing, is a dvd player. However, that is not a problem, because I already have a dvd/vcr player/recorder hooked up to my new LGTV. Thank you LG.
