What People Are Saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely worst buy ever Was told it was best tv ever by Best Buy For a year no problems but now right after warranty expires the problems appears. Turns off by itself after every 2 mins Not running hot or too many programs at a time and no timers set at all Was told by customer reps that they never heard of the issue and was not about to help. I looked it up and there are 20,000 reported people with the same problems, the TVs been out for only 3 years and they said it never happened before, what a sham of a company. Will never buy any lg ever again

Sorry my question below was about the washed out issue when viewing Dolby Vision content over HDMI. LG is supposed to release an update to fix this and I'm asking about the status of that update. Thanks

When watching HDR standard mode (not Dolby Vision or HDR bright/vivid), what is the right color gamut to select. I've read that normal should be chosen for HDR and wide for Dolby Vision. Is that correct?

Asked by: Lovemylgtv
On the LG C6 Curved OLED 4K HDR Smart TV - 65" Class (64.5" Diag), Model # OLED65C6P, HDR10 playback looks much brighter than the Dolby Vision version; Dolby's system actually sets the TV's OLED brightness to just 50, while LG's HDR10 approach pushes OLED brightness to 100. If you are a video enthusiast, you may feel that Dolby Vision's approach simply proves that brightness is perhaps not the be-all and end-all of good HDR playback. Using the Vivid HDR10 setting in the HDR Effect mode in the TV pushes the brightness with HDR sources much more aggressively than the HDR Bright and HDR Standard settings. When the TV detects an HDR10 layer, it offers you Standard, Bright or Vivid HDR modes. Standard is the most adaptable. With Dolby Vision, the TV kicks into specific picture settings: Vivid, Movie Bright or Movie Dark. Movie Dark gives you more leeway for tinkering with individual picture settings...^IFV

Will this TV support updated / updates to HDR technology and standards? Specifically HLG and HDR 10+, also I cannot find the peak brightness anywhere for this model when receiving HDR signal. Does anyone know what peak brightness in nits is for this panel

Asked by: Adam J
Hello Adam, the OLED65C6P along with other 2016 OLED TVs received a firmware upgrade to support HLG HDR. HDR 10+ is a new format that is being pushed by Samsung and they recently partnered up with Amazon Prime Video to support it and was joined by 20th Century Fox, Philips, and Panasonic. At CES2018, it was accepted as part of the Ultra HD Blu-ray specification. It does the same thing that Dolby Vision does and the only difference being that unlike Dolby Vision, HDR 10+ is royalty free. Peak Brightness for HDR is something that has to be measured while the TV is displaying more traditional video content. It is referred to as maximum luminosity and all measurements are made with the TV set to be as bright as possible, but with 6500k white. The tests are done for an HDR 2% window test which measures the maximum brightness of a white rectangle displayed on an area covering 2% of the TV’s screen, a 10% window test which measures the maximum brightness of a white window displayed on 10% of the TV’s screen, a 25% window test which measures the maximum brightness of a white rectangle displayed on 25% of the TV’s screen etc., up to a 100% window test which measures the maximum brightness of a white rectangle displayed on the entirety of the TV’s screen. Winter sports, advertisements that use a lot of bright colors, and some cartoons, are about the only media you’ll find that approach this level of brightness. In other words, it will depend on the HDR content that it is presented with. ^AC

On 2017 OLED models, the dynamic contrast expert setting functions as active HDR.  Is this the same on the 2016 OLED models?  I'm trying to determine if I should turn it low or leave it off.

Asked by: JonK32
Dynamic Contrast corrects the difference between the bright and dark areas of the screen for optimal results depending on the brightness of the picture. We recommend trying it both ways and comparing the two to determine if you prefer it set to low or off. ^CP

Just purchased the LG OLED65C6P. The supplied electric cable is not long enough to teach the outlet. Thinking about using an extension cord till I can have an outlet installed. Any recommendations if this will affect the performance of 4K 3D ?

Asked by: Paresh55
Or simply make sure your extension cord is thick enough (i.e. rated to deliver the needed voltage to where you need it). Heck you could even by a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) to be Super Extra certain that the TV got what it needed. And either of those would less expensive than having an electrician put in a new outlet. And the UPS option might be better for the TV in the long term anyways.

We do apologize about the issue you are having with the TV. It is suggested to perform CLEAR PANEL NOISE on the unit to resolve the issue. To perform you would go to SETTINGS > ALL SETTINGS > PICTURE > OLED PANEL SETTINGS > CLEAR PANEL NOISE. This option will take abut 1 hr. to perform. If this doesn't correct the issue, please contact LG at 800-243-0000 for further troubleshooting.

My OLED65C6P seems to have to be turned up really loud to be heard. I font know if something is wrong with my speakers or if I need a sound bar. What sound bar is compatible with this tv?

Asked by: Leah63648
I do apologize about the issue you are having with the TV. The sound from the TV speaker would vary based of the content being viewed, so some sources may have higher volume levels. There are a number of sound bars available depending upon the features desired, however, compatibility would vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
