What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Impressed! My 26 year old stackable combo bit the dust and I entered the world of technology with this purchase. I carefully read the instruction manual, followed it to a tee and am very, very pleased. The fact that it is ventless is a definitely plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LG All in One Waher Dryer This is the best possible solution for a small space. Highly efficent washer dryer all in one and only 24 inches wide. Cleaning is as effective as any larger machine and the drying function is very effective, I can't evnision any other system working as well in a small space

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Terrible DO NOT BUY!!! I bought this as a second machine set for our master bedroom. Thought it would be nice to have hahhhhhh I was wrong. It actually makes your clothes look worse than before they are washed. They are full of lint and ruins the clothes. My clothes not have like lint balls all over them. I have tried calling customer service at least 10 times. They sent a technician but there is nothing wrong with it, it just doesn't function like a normal washer. Yes the dryer takes longer but my stuff did dry. I just don't like lint all over everything. Trying to get any kind of response from Lg has been awful. So here I sit with an 1800 machine that we can't use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Ventless Washer / Dryer I had planned to buy stacked full sized units BUT my builder didn't leave enough space in the laundry closet. So I thought I was settling for a lesser solution with the WM3488HW BUT I was wrong. This unit is amazing! I have had an other washer dryer combos unit (Splendide) but it just wadded up the clothes (And it wasn't ventless). The LG unit is hard to believe. I put the clothes in before I go to work and when I get home, the clothes are clean and fluffed! It's also amazing that it doesn't need a vent to the outside and yet it doesn't raise the humidity or temperature of the house that I can notice. I know the science behind it but it still borders on magical in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great performance I have been using this washer/dryer for about a month. It is incredible! Clothes come out cleaner and smell much better than they were when i used the laundromat machines, and i use the same detergent and fabric softener! Thank you LG! I also use the Tag On feature to see on my cell phone when i need to run the Tub Clean cycle

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not loving "high efficiency" ventless machine the quality of washer/dryer seems to be good, but I am not a fan of "he" now that I have used it. After figuring out the best choices to make on the washing options to get my clothes the type of clean and rinsed quality I is ok. I wash with "he" detergent one time then wash with no detergent to get clothes rinsed the way I like them. The drying is best when I use timed drying. The clothes take all day to dry on other settings. I would recommend to friends, but would tell them my preferences also.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Finicky, High Maintenance, Load Takes FOREVER I bought the LG Washer/Dryer Combo nearly one year ago and HATE it ! I feel like I'm a Slave to it while I'm using it. Not to mention the post-wash maintenance which is a lot more than simply cleaning ta large Lint Screen. It takes forever to run one small load. Clothes ALWAYS come out EXTREMELY Wrinkled. I have to Iron Just About EVERYTHING, even Jeans ! My former traditional washer, operated flawlessly for 32 years & I rarely had to iron anything. I Liked the idea of saving space,so that's why I chose to buy this. Big Mistake. The method of keeping up with Lint removal is time consuming & tedious with machine..There's no large Lint screen, like in the past. You have to pull the washer out from the wall. The unit is VERY Heavy & requires 2 people to pull from the wall. We had to place a small rug under the feet to keep the unit from scratching the floor. It's recommended to unplug the Unit. You then have to shut the water spigots off, so water doesn't leak out of the water lines. Then you have to use a Wrench to unscrew both hot & cold water lines from the BACK of the Unit, pull out the tiny "lint traps", clean them and reinsert them into the back of the Unit. Then, using wrench to screw both water lines back into the back of the unit, Turn Spigots back on, plug in the electric cord and push the washer/dryer Combo back into place. Then you have to clean the Drain Plug filter located inside a small door on the lower front of the Unit. One time doing this, we finally realized we had a matted up blob go very dense Lint that got caught in one to the two inverted and very hard to see drain openings. What a Pain in the you know what. I had to dig up a curved-nose Hemostat to reach the Lint Blog, all the while having to use a flashlight to even find them in order to even find them ! There is no mention in the manual of Lint Blobs can be found up the drain openings, so make sure they don't get clogged & if you find that they are, there's no suggestions on what to use in order to reach them and get them out. It's just too much work & takes WAY TOO LONG to do one load of Laundry & allow yourself plenty of Post Wash Ironing Time. You'll need IT ! I would NOT recommend this to ANYONE. I Completely REGRET having bought this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works good I bought this washer/dryer about 5 years ago when I first got into my apartment, I've never had a problem with it, never had to have it worked on. It works fine if you don't need clean clothes right away, there's a trick to it... just keep up with your laundry! I do small loads a few times a week, and I'd rather restart the drying cycle a few times than keep paying quarters and gas to use a Laundromat. it's really not a big deal, yes the clothes take forever to dry; probably three or four 2 hour cycles but I usually just hang them up damp and they're completely dry by work the next morning. WARNING...this machine is heavy AF. the Lowes guys brought it upstairs, by husband and I put it where it is and it hasn't moved, it's too heavy to move to clean behind it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Product Like all LG products we have ever owned, it has broken multiple times. None of their products, from television, to phone, and now washing machine have lasted more than 2 years without breaking or needing repair. Our washing machine has now broken down twice in less than 2 1/2 years (first break was less than 8 months). LG should not stand for Life's Good when their products are constructed terribly and the warranties even worse. Side note: our first repair, covered by warranty, only two shops were contracted. One of which didn't even actually work on LG products and the second repair shop didn't even know how to repair the machine or had even seen an LG washer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from ABSOLUTE WORST WASHER/DRYER EVER EXPERIENCED I thought this washer/dryer combo would be ideal since I live in a small studio... and boy was I WRONG. I'm so offended this product even EXISTS as it does nothing it says it's advertised to do in terms of washing AND drying your clothes. HERE'S THE HARD TRUTH IF YOU BOUGHT THIS MACHINE: YOU WILL NEVER DRY YOUR CLOTHES WITH THIS DRYER! I'VE HAD TWO, TWO!!!! REPAIRMEN COME LOOK AT IT, ONLY TO TELL ME this machine literally takes 2+ hours to dry HALF a load. They told me the drying power on this machine is equivalent to that of a hair dryer. LIKE ARE YOU SERIOUS? A HAIR DRYER? I MIGHT AS WELL BLOW DRY EACH INDIVIDUAL ARTICLE OF CLOTHING AND STILL FINISH IT BY THE TIME THIS DRYER EVER DECIDES TO EVEN HEAT UP. I have tried it multiple times, going so much as to drying it for 4 cycles of 2+ hours each to still have the clothes come out damp and wet. I have no idea where they came up with calling this a dryer combo when I have not, to this day, seen this product DRY A SINGLE ITEM OF MINE. I have had to take all my laundry to a laundromat because this machine is the worst LG product I have ever seen. When asked why I do my laundry in a public laundromat when I have a perfectly good washing machine at home, I'll be sure to say it's all due to LG products and their sorry excuse of a washer/dryer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from little dynamo I bought this around Thanksgiving and had it installed by Xmas. It washes really well and has dried well for me too. It does vibrate quite a bit, I've leveled it and bought very thick vibration absorbing food pads and it helped but there's still quite bit of vibration. I tend to keep it on medium spin for that reason which is fine. I'm a person who almost always hangs clothing to dry (I find they last longer) and only machine dry sheets and towels. It dries them thoroughly, though there has been a strong smell of hot plastic which was a bit worrisome. I releveled the machine and hope it doesn't happen again. Overall, I like it a great deal, it suits my needs and washes well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dry Function Not What It Should Be I bought this unit about a year ago. I wash very small loads and initially the washer/dryer combo worked great. Then after several months I went through a period where it wasn’t drying the clothes. Thankfully it somehow fixed itself. But now we are back to not drying clothes consistently for over 2 months now. I clean out the little accessible lint trap regularly and there is generally nothing in it. I have read reviews that say a service person has to come out and unscrew the machine to fix the lint trapped inside, which is completely impractical. I have resorted to drying on a rack after attempting the wash/dry feature.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from All in One / Compact I bought this a month ago and very pleased with it's performance. I know it's not for everyone. But for 1 or 2 people it's great and if you have a small space laundry it's the ideal appliance.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Small, handy but lint trap not easily accessible I've had the unit for less than a year and have already had to call service to clean out the internal lint that gets trapped, because it basically stopped drying the clothes. I was told by the service person that this is very common and that it seems to happen with this smaller washer/dryer combo but not so much with the bigger version.I can't emphasize enough how much this inconvenience (and cost) downgrades whatever features of the washer/dryer I am happy with. Unless I learn to open the top of the washer myself and unscrew some parts, and then clean out a bunch of trapped lint in the nooks and crannies of curved plastic parts, I will have to call service to come by about twice a year to do this for me so I can continue to use the dry function. Definitely disappointing. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it. I was aware that drying loads would need to be about half the washing loads and that wasn't a problem for me because I hang clothes to dry and then finish drying them in the dryer the next day (in 2 loads per 1 washer load). But not having an accessible way to clean out lint that gets trapped and affects the drying function puts the number of inconveniences too high for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst laundry machine I've used My landlord installed this new in my rental home right before I moved in. I've been living with it over four months now, and I can't think of a single positive thing to say about it. A load of two shirts, a pair of socks, and some socks and underwear takes 4+hours to wash and dry, and comes out so wrinkled it looks like you just dragged them out of the bottom of the hamper. The dryer runs so hot that even on low temp beware of shrinkage - yes, even on clothes that you have owned for years and washed and dried numerous times! I wouldn't even put my towels through this thing on normal heat settings. Even if you hang everything to dry so as not to completely destroy your clothes, expect everything to be extremely wrinkled, not even suitable for casual wear out to the grocery store. I am offended that LG even released this machine to the public. If you live in a NYC closet and don't mind washing your clothes one article at a time, and ironing your jeans to make them wearable, then I'm sure this thing will seem like a godsend. As for me, I'm on my way to the laundromat so that I can start looking like a grown man again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for NYC apartment I bought this to replace a Malber W/D combo that stopped working. This LG W/D combo is far superior, I am actually glad the Malber stopped working and couldn't be repaired. The LG version is very easy to use, the quality of wash is excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall amazing with one quirk We love our combo washer/dryer. It fit perfectly in the little nook when we remodeled the downstairs bathroom. Our main use for it is cloth/reusable diapers. Apart from sheets and blankets the drum is a great size for a single person or small family. Fabulous for starting a load for wash and dry before bed or work and it will be done when you wake up/get home. We utilize the child lock feature every time. Our only complaint is that the child lock feature does not work on the power button! Our 1.5 to is great at getting in the room and hitting the power button mid cycle. There is no way to turn it back on and have it pick up at the same cycle point. (Moral of our story: catch up to your child before they get to the buttons)

Is there any reason that this unit could not be installed outside, on a covered porch?

Asked by: bell99
Regrettably, without knowing what the environmental conditions are like in your area, we cannot determine if you are able to install the LG 2.3 cu.ft. Compact All-In-One Washer/Dryer, Model # WM3488HW outside in your porch. It is designed for indoor use where you have access to an appropriate electrical outlet which must be within 60 inches on either side of the unit and to a hot and cold water supply and a drain. We are only able to advise you on installations that are congruent with the instructions provided in the owner's manual and installations that are not covered in the owner's manual are not covered under warranty...^IFV

I ordered this unit & plan to hook it up to the bathtub.  (A platform is being built so that the machine will sit on the tub.)  I know we will need to purchase a converter for the water.  Do you have any other words of advice or direction for me?  Thanks!

Asked by: asuddock
There really isn't that much more that we can advise you on about connecting the LG 2.3 cu.ft. Compact All-In-One Washer/Dryer, Model # WM3488HS to your bathtub than what you have already assessed as being needed for proper installation. Without knowing how you will drain the unit, just keep in mind that the total height of the hose end should not exceed 96 inches from the bottom of the washer and you should consult with your local building inspector since the drain must be installed in accordance with any applicable local codes and regulations...^IFV

What does CD mean on the screen at end of drying cycle? And clothes were still slightly damp, why?

Asked by: Tony 71
A CD display indicates that the combo unit is in cool down mode. This is normal. When the drying cycle is complete the "CD" message displays. The cool down operation periodically tumbles (25 seconds every 5 minutes) the load with no heat to rearrange and fluff the clothing to avoid wrinkles for up to 4 hours The cool down cycle will continue either until a button is pressed to remove the clothes or until 4 hours have passed. Large quantities of dog hair and lint get stuck in the rubber tube. Is this normal? Is there a way to prevent this?

Asked by: ellenc
Hello, since this is a washer dryer combo unit, it can be normal. If what you are washing has a large amount of hair, it is recommended you manually remove excess hair and dirt from the items before washing. ^AC
