What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving this machine! Its unfortunate they discontinued this model. Apparently there is a newer version in all black. I had searched the US for this particular model as it matches my dryer. I really enjoy this washer. Have been using it now for about 3 months and have NO complaints. Clothes get washed well, this washer can handle quite a load too! Love the front facing touch buttons. Overall, very satisfied with this unit. Thanks LG!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No Agitator This washing machine does a POOR job of washing clothes. I follow the directions precisely and the clothes are tangled and twisted at the end of the cycle. No soaking cycle!!! Uses a minimum amount of water even though I choose extra water.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for short people The washer does add enough water, even after adding on the water plus option, to get all the soap and dirt out. I constantly have to use the extra rinse cycle with isw therefore not saving any water. The bulky cycle is the only one that is really useful. Also I am 5'1" and there is no way to reach the bottom of the tub without using a step stool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LG - Looks Great! Had rust issues with my previous LG washer. But overall, washer worked great. Noticed new LG washer top section is not made out of metal or steel but fiber glass or plastic which should eliminate the rusting issue. So far new washer works like a charm and overall I am very satisfied. My wife's really enjoying this new guy!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from OMG What a disaster purchase. Not daily usage. I love LG products. It's matching dryer is great however this product is a disaster. The water pump and spinner gears have broken twice in 16 months. LG Service is super polite, professional, empathetic and apologetic. However I chose to buy this machine so I have to live with it. The product has no filter so the drain pump has to overwork then it sounds like a sewing machine, a chainsaw then won't drain. The service people know when they arrive but never have the pumps because they are always on back order. ADVICE This is a sleek cool looking machine at a good price but terrible value. Please avoid. Once you get to around a year if you have children and use the machine alot you will start to have problems. For a single person who washes once a week this may be a good buy for you. Please do not repeat the same mistake I have. **** BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY *** I have it thankfully. The repairs cost more than the machine. LG said they may swap it out on the third disaster break down. I would never buy this model or it's new line replacement model. It has a horrible design flaw. On the upside, it's providing jobs to technicians who can't keep up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I have had this washer for almost a year now. It has good features and runs problem free. It's mega capacity is very helpful in making less time needed for washing. This is my 3rd LG washer that I have had in about 15 years and non of them broke down during my ownership time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Deep Clean My review title, 'Deep Clean,' has a double meaning. One meaning is that this machine does an exceptional job at getting out dirt, stains, and odors, using a minimal amount of laundry detergent. I love the useful options available for each load. Bulky queen size blankets and bedding, towels, and throw rugs get washed without it sounding like the machine is shaking the house foundation. This machine is easy to use and efficient. The second meaning of, 'Deep Clean,' is that the tub is deep. If I were any shorter, I would not be able to reach the clothes at the bottom. I am 5'4". If you are interested, I suggest going to the store and trying out your arm length to tub depth ratio. Perhaps a low step stool would alleviate that problem for shorter individuals. In summary, I am super happy with my new washer and would recommend it to taller family and friends who are in the market.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't clean, doesn't rinse Clothes come out with soap still on them or dirty. Repairman said with these super efficient washers, you need to add water to cycles. So I add extra water and/or extra rinse to EVERY cycle and yes, I am using the correct amount of detergent (repairman showed me how much to use so it isn't too much). This washer doesn't clean well at all. Despite adding extra water and extra rinse, clothes are still dirty. The repairman also said these top loading efficient washers are not for people who get their clothes dirty. So I'm using more water, and more energy, for clothes that come out dirty. Lesson learned - I will never buy a top loader again.

I am considering purchasing this machine and have a question. As the load capacity increases on various LG models, does the design and construction of the machines change to accommodate the much heavier load weight?

Asked by: Susan88
A cubic feet capacity is a measure of volume and cannot be converted into a weight measurement, but the Energy Star Qualified LG 4.9 cu. ft. Mega Capacity Front Control TurboWash® Washer w/ Steam, Model # WT1801HWA is designed to support the volume that a capacity of 4.9 cubic feet can hold. A Large cubic feet capacity will hold more volume which means more weight so it will be designed to hold more weight than a washer with a smaller capacity. So as you surmised, as the load capacity increases, the design and construction of the washer will change to support the heaveir load weight...^IFV

How to get rid of bad odor coming out of washer?

Asked by: tony5127
Some environmental and usage conditions can cause a residue to build up in the wash tub over time and can lead to a mildew or musty smell. The TUB CLEAN cycle is specially designed to remove this build up using bleach or other cleaners designed specifically for cleaning washing machines. Run the TUB CLEAN cycle once a month, or more often under heavy use conditions or if an odor is present. You can find information on the tub clean cycle on page 27 of the owner's manual.

When I slept the spin only option, the tub still fills with water and drains before spinning. How can I get it to simply spin again for a few minutes without filling?

Asked by: crissy148
We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. In reviewing our records, it appears that this model does not have a SPIN CYCLE that does not add some water.

How often do you clean the machine and how do I do that  and where do I request a new manual for my washer and dryer.  I have misplaced them, hence the reason I'm asking this question.  Thank you

Asked by: Nicky W
We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. A copy of the owner’s manual can be downloaded from our website at It is recommended to run the Tub Clean cycle, as described in the manual, at least once a month to keep the tub clean.

This washer drains the dirt of the clothes?

Asked by: Maria22
We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. Any dirt that it washed out of the clothing is certainly supposed to be washed down the drain.
