When I wash big things like a twin size mattress pad, it has flakes of residue on it. So today I ran the clean cycle, there was alot of stuck on residue in the bottom of the tub, had to scrub to get it off, How to prevent this in the future

Asked by: jorylin
Some environmental and usage conditions can cause residue to build up in the tub for the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 5.0 cu. ft. Large Capacity Smart wi-fi Enabled Top Load Washer, Model # WT7200CW over time and can lead to mildewy or musty smells. The Tub Clean cycle is sp[ecially designed to remove this buildup using bleach or other cleaners that are designed specifically for cleaning washing machines. You can run the tub clean cycle once a month or more often under heavy use conditions or if an odor is present. If you live in an area with hard water, mineral scale can form on internal components of the washer. You will need to use a water softener that is recommended for use in areas with hard water. The minerals in hard water react with soap to create "soap scum." When using hard water, more soap or detergent is needed to get things clean, be it your hands, hair, or your laundry. Oklahoma water is considered hard. The average water hardness for the Oklahoma resident is around 146 PPM...^IFV
